Please help me with... What are Wikipedia’s rules about when to change a subject’s image? I have read the guidelines, but I‘m still unsure. Is there a limit to how new an image has to be; if so, what is it? (This question is related to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, as it is a general question.] SapphireElixir (talk) 17:18, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @SapphireElixir!
- There is no clear policy concerning when to change an image but, they must be relevant which is dependent on the subject (per WP:IMAGEPOL). Along with that, they must properly represent the subject in a respectful and appropriate manner, especially if the subject is alive or recently deceased (per WP:BLP).
- What matters most is whether the image represents the subject well. Just saying “the image is old” isn’t enough, older photos can still be fine and get the job done.
- And above all: consensus matters. If you’re replacing an image, be clear on why it’s better, not just "newer".
- If you have any other questions or concerns, I'm happy to help! twisted. (user | talk | contribs) 17:37, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
