Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... What are Wikipedia’s rules about when to change a subject’s image? I have read the guidelines, but I‘m still unsure. Is there a limit to how new an image has to be; if so, what is it? (This question is related to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, as it is a general question.] SapphireElixir (talk) 17:18, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @SapphireElixir!
There is no clear policy concerning when to change an image but, they must be relevant which is dependent on the subject (per WP:IMAGEPOL). Along with that, they must properly represent the subject in a respectful and appropriate manner, especially if the subject is alive or recently deceased (per WP:BLP).
What matters most is whether the image represents the subject well. Just saying “the image is old” isn’t enough, older photos can still be fine and get the job done.
And above all: consensus matters. If you’re replacing an image, be clear on why it’s better, not just "newer".
If you have any other questions or concerns, I'm happy to help! twisted. (user | talk | contribs) 17:37, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
