- Hello @Ldm1954 I improved reference 1 as per your request, this is a credible German source, do you think the tag can be removed?, aslo, at reference 2 you changed the title, I'm not sure why you did that, the book title is 'uber die Schleimsäure' Samcvp (talk) 13:05, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Better. For reference #2 that is what the WP citation tool gave -- just edit the template. What you had before was not a valid source.
- Beyond that, the key issue is why is he notable? (Don't answer that here, it must be in the article.) At the end you say he developed some devices, but you don't prove (guilty until proven innocent) that this was important. You last sentence should be a well-sourced paragraph or two on their importance. That will be his claim to nitability. (I did find some sources which is why I tagged this for you to improve, rather than proposing deletion as not notsble.) Ldm1954 (talk) 13:25, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hmmm. I had another look in case I should remove the notability tage. There is a significant problem that you need to address. According to https://mountwashington.org/a-little-about-the-sling-psychrometer/ the sling psychrometer was invented in the late 1700s by James Hutton. In https://www.etymonline.com/word/psychrometer the date for "cold"+meter is given later, but it is quoted as another word in 1749 for a thermometer. A google AI on "Psychrometer history timeline" gives 1600 for the whirling psychrometer!
- In Wikipedia we don't take sides, which we also call WP:NPOV. This means that with the psychrometer you need to explain his patenting and where/how his contributions differ from the tothers. There is also the issue of heliostat, where it is also not clear where his device fits. Sorry, sometimes (often) constructing a good Wikipedia article takes a fair amount of work -- we want the quality of entries to be high. Ldm1954 (talk) 17:40, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- hello @Ldm1954 my source for the psychrometer invention is taken from a scientific well sourced book, here you can see the summary: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/9781119136170.ch2 . That being said, your point seems to be right, there doesn't seem to be a single agreed upon inventor of the psychrometer, Ernst Ferdinand August seems to be an important scientist in the field of meteorology and it's possible that he invented at least some type of psychrometer. So in case the the page is not being deleted I would change the text to 'according to some sources he invented a type of psychrometer' or the like, this statement is also supported by chatgpt, the exact quote is 'Ernst Ferdinand August is indeed credited with significant contributions to the development of the psychrometer. He created a version of the psychrometer in the 19th century, refining the method of measuring humidity using the wet and dry bulb technique. While he may not be the sole inventor, his work helped popularize and improve the instrument'. as for the heliostat, it was taken from the German page, this also seems to be like the psychrometer, but I didn't find a source supporting this, so this should be removed, Let me know what you think of the proposed changes Samcvp (talk) 18:59, 12 October 2024 (UTC)

The article String line has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Certainly exists, Searches did not turn up enough in-depth coverage from independent, reliable sources to support meeting WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Onel5969 TT me 16:18, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
