Your submission at Articles for creation: Ilan Gur (February 20)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Nirmaljoshi was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bellah (singer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi Rob235711. Thank you for your work on Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for starting the page, for a new NATO organization. You've set it up well to grow as the organization grows. One this to watch is the repetion of corporate mumbo-jumbo: "with the aim of facilitating the development of emerging and disruptive dual-use technologies" won't really tell readers what they are actually doing. Some more explicit mention of defense/military role would be more transparent and be more consistent with a neutral POV (rather that organization slogans). Also check that the categories that are the most specific available for page, avoiding high-level categoties unless absolutely necessary.

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Chern Institute of Mathematics, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.  Sumanuil. (talk to me) 06:29, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Rob235711, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Homeless Link, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Homeless Link.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Wasianpower}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hi Rob235711. Thank you for your work on Cambridge Two. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thank you for creating this article on a criminal case, including biographies of the two criminals, that captured public attention and influenced the activity of charities of the time - the key idea being that 'good intentions' didn't trump the 'rule of law'.

Waring's problem

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm David Eppstein. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Waring's problem have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks.

In particular, the reference you added, a supposed book Additive Problems in Number Theory: Waring's Problem, Goldbach's Conjecture, and Related Topics (Soundarajan and Thangadurai, Student Mathematical Library 104, 2024), appears to be completely falsified. That volume of the Student Mathematical Library is a different book, An Introduction to the Circle Method by Murty and Singa from 2023. The isbn you listed is invalid. MathSciNet does not list any joint publications by Soundarajan and Thangadurai, and would definitely list this book if it existed.

Is it possible that you were using an AI to do your editing and didn't even check whether it was hallucinating?

David Eppstein (talk) 06:38, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Prof. Eppstein,
Yes, you are completely correct in your assessment. I used an LLM to try to find the source of the PDF from the AMS, which was linked to in the citation. It's completely inexcusable for me to have been so lazy as to not have double checked the output's veracity, as it has turned out to be completely hallucinated, and I am very sorry for this. Thank you very much for reverting the edit.
Just by way of explanation, I had first made sure that the information for the edit was from a reputable source, i.e. a document from the AMS.
Because the PDF was an excerpt of another document, I didn't know how to find the details of the original.
I have recently begun using LLMs for various tasks beyond Wikipedia, so I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to see whether the LLM could find the details of the original based on the URL for the PDF excerpt. Clearly, this was a disastrous decision.
Anyway, I just wanted to explain my thought process so that you didn't leave thinking that I was a bad actor. But rather that I am someone who made a very stupid and naïve error of judgement.
I can assure you that it will not happen again and I am extremely sorry to have wasted your time.
Respectfully,
Rob Rob235711 (talk) 11:27, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Deeph Chana has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The subject is no longer the Managing Director of DIANA and does not appear to have received sufficient significant coverage from independent, reliable sources to establish notability per WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This is an automated notification. Please refer to the page's history for further information. DatBot (talk) 00:31, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rob235711. Thank you for your work on London Defence Conference. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating the page for a series of high-impact conventions or conferences, which has managed to attract two prime ministers. Other have commented that there are two many associated sources used as references, and I agree that it would be helpful to have more independent sources that cover the topic. Some might even be critical of it?
