Terrible sentence

I agree with you about that sentence at Glossary of mathematical symbols, I think it has had 'just one more little phrase' too many and the plot has been lost.

I have rewritten it as Theses letters alone are not sufficient for the needs of mathematicians, and many other symbols are used. Some take their origin in punctuation marks and diacritics traditionally used in typography; others by deforming letter forms, as in the cases of $\in$ and $\forall$ . Others, such as $+$ and $=$ , were specially designed for mathematics. which I hope is better but feel free to take another machete to it.--John Maynard Friedman (talk) 16:49, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
