Welcome!
[edit]
Welcome!
Hello, Recyclethispizzabox, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.
Did you know that ...
- ...Wikipedia has a very stringent image use policy?
- ...most images from Flickr, online news websites, and other web sources are copyrighted?
- ...Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously?
- ...freely-licensed images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a central location for images where they can be used on all Wikipedia projects?
- ...we recommend that new users use our "files for upload" process – at least until you get the hang of things?
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}} on your talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

Non-free rationale for File:UoT Pakistani Students holding flag 1947.png
[edit]
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:UoT Pakistani Students holding flag 1947.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under the non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Non-free images
[edit]Wikiedia's non-free content rules require that the use of any non-free images (like the ones that you uploaded) must meet all of the WP:non-free content criteria. In your particular case, none of the images have adequate descriptions as required by WP:NFCC#10, nor non-free usage rationales (WP:NFCC#10c]]. They are also being used in a draft which not allowed (WP:NFCC#9). For help in editing, you can ask questions at the Teahouse, and for media copyright related queries, you an post a question at Media copyright questions. -- Whpq (talk) 05:22, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

Non-free images again.
[edit]
You cannot use non-free images in drafts. Do no add them back as is contrary to policy. See WP:Non-free content criteria, specifically item 9. Do not add them back as doing so is disruptive and could lead to you being blocked] from editing. -- Whpq (talk) 19:06, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ah I see, thanks. I was wondering why they'd keep getting removed even though I had provided rationale for using them. Is it okay to add them back in once the article is published and no longer in draft? Recyclethispizzabox (talk) 19:48, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- You could put them in the article at that point without them being automatically removed. However, I do not believe qualify for use as non-free content. Pictures of student association members together could be replaced by free images as somebody could go and take such a photo and release it under a free license. They would fail WP:NFCC#1 as they are replaceable with freely licensed content. The various posters would fails to meet WP:NFCC#8 for contextual significance as these images are not needed in order to understand the topic. As well, using them to show that these student associations have undertaken various initiatives can be replaced by a simple textual description of the initiative. So these would also not meet r WP:NFCC#1 if text can be used in place of the images.
- Wikipedia's copyright and non-free content policies can be confusing. You can get help with image licensing and use on Wikipedia at Media copyright questions and more general editing help at the Teahouse. -- Whpq (talk) 20:17, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

- Thanks so much for taking the time to review my draft and provide feedback. The focus of Indianization of the Internet is on an ongoing phenomenon—the growing influence of Indian professionals, cultural narratives, and political strategies in the global tech industry and online spaces. The reason it’s centered on Indians is simply because they are the group currently dominating this space. If there were another ethnic group rising and shaping the tech industry alongside Indians, I’d absolutely include them too. However, the current data and trends suggest that this is a uniquely Indian-led phenomenon.
- The article isn’t about intentionally neglecting other groups—it’s about documenting what’s happening right now. For example, the domination of people of European descent in the tech industry is already well-covered in existing articles. This draft focuses on something more recent and specific: how Indian professionals, organizations, and cultural perspectives are shaping the internet and the global tech landscape in new and significant ways. Recyclethispizzabox (talk) 23:49, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- I think I can make the tone a little more neutral. Perhaps I can find some sources on how Indian-led tech companies have contributed to the US economy, stuff like that. And I can improve the wording a bit in some places. Recyclethispizzabox (talk) 23:55, 16 January 2025 (UTC)

recent deletion of sourced

January 2025
[edit]
Your recent editing history at Hindi–Urdu controversy shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
AnupamTalk 19:22, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Anupam I undid 1 commit. That doesn't qualify as "edit war." Also, I only removed an unsourced fact, and it was added back in, without mentioning the source, again. Recyclethispizzabox (talk) 20:55, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary, as you did at Desi. AnupamTalk 19:20, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- Which content exactly in Desi? Because I have given edit summaries, unless it was something minor, like grammatical. You have undid all of my edits under this excuse. Tell me which edit and I can add an edit summary Recyclethispizzabox (talk) 20:56, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- There are concerns about your editing expressed on the talk page of that article. Please gain consensus for your edits there WP:BRD. Thanks, AnupamTalk 21:01, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
