A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar
Hey, while I personally happen to be right-leaning, I randomly stumbled over your account today and wanted to commend you for your work. I have dealt with awfully tendentious editors of a left-wing background in the last few months, but your contributions all seem to be accurate and relevant, as far as I can tell.

Don't take this the wrong way; I really was positively surprised. Biohistorian15 (talk) 08:35, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Biohistorian15: Ha! I was literally just wondering if I come off as having an axe to grind because of my admittedly niche interest in American and Eastern European far-right. Your words mean a lot right now, truly, thanks a bunch, and have a great day! RKT7789 (talk) 08:39, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

October 2024

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Graywalls (talk) 04:31, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Graywalls: Ah shoot, my bad. I turned on the prompt right away. Thanks for the tip and heads up.RKT7789 (talk) 04:45, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:41, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Responses to 764 (organization)

[edit]
  • Unsourced changes.

I will add references.

KGB doesn't exist anymore. Thank you for correcting that, I meant the FSB.

  • Doubt any source talks about "brainwashing".

The Global Network of Extremism and Technology says: "764 forces their victims to carry out four key types of harm that may be recorded and shared on social media platforms or disseminated internally." They also use the words "groomed" and "encouraged", but Marshall Applewhite didn't encourage anyone to kill themselves. That's called brainwashing.

  • What's the point of uploading the group's artwork?

Same exact reason the ISIS flag is used in ISIS, or the Swastika in Nazism. It's their logo, particularly their most recognizable logo. DrRandallPhilip (talk) 15:28, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@DrRandallPhilip:WELL, hate to nitpick but that's colloquial use of the word Brainwashing, to use it in the wikivoice we'd need some article to use the word. I would go with "forced", since that's essentially accurate. Regarding sources, good that you're adding them, that's all we ask really.RKT7789 (talk) 15:56, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the dilemma that an article has inaccurate information (sourced from an unreliable article) but I have unsourced but accurate information... do I keep information that is sourced up (that cannot be proved to be untrue)? Do I deliberately keep inaccurate information up? Do nothing? I haven't been able to find any Help from Wiki about this, and I keep getting in trouble for uploading unsourced information, to the point of "hoaxes" allegations. I don't know how to add information that is not sourced without using a [citation needed], but I don't know if I can even do that. DrRandallPhilip (talk) 16:20, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DrRandallPhilip: Our policy is Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth. Lord knows I have had info that I've wanted to include because I know it to be true, but you can't base a wiki on bunch of guys saying "trust me on this bro". If its not sourced, it doesnt go in. That's it in all its simplicity.RKT7789 (talk) 16:32, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the help. I hope my contributions reflect your advice. Have a very happy holiday. DrRandallPhilip (talk) DrRandallPhilip (talk) 21:03, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:SKS member.jpg.

This file is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the file description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. — Ирука13 02:17, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

612-march

[edit]

hi, I saw that you contribute quite a bit to the subject of the Finnish far right and that you live in Finland, I was wondering if you'd be interested in doing an article on the 612-march? there's already an article on the Finnish Wikipedia, but I don't speak that language, and I'd like to do an article about it on the French Wikipedia, so having info from Finnish media translated into English might be interesting, even though I've found some sources in English that might be useful. cheers! GloBoy93 (talk) 15:24, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@GloBoy93:Funny that you should bring it up, I was just planning on it. I need to pull together bits and pieces of information, and I don't know if translating year by year breakdown like in Finnish wiki is meaningful (since every year is "nazis march, cops beat antifascists, repeat"). But I'll start today or tomorrow. I will hit you up, okay? RKT7789 (talk) 15:40, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
sure, perfect! thank you :) GloBoy93 (talk) 15:55, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
