Microsoft's Windows Xp shutdown DOS command:-

Shutdown means to stop working of computer. Using this command you can shutdown, logoff and restart.

Shutdown command’s options:-

-i Opens shutdown dialog box. Enter the computer name and specify the reason to shutdown.

          Ex:-   shutdown  -i

-l To come out from your current user account. This is called as log off.

         Ex:- shutdown –l

-s shutdowning the computer

         Ex:- shutdown –s

-r After shutdown , again staring is called as restart. This option is Used for restart.

          Ex:- shutdown –r

-a Using this option , we can abort the shutdown’s process.

-m \\ComputerName

         Used to  shutdown (Ex:- shutdown  -m  \\mycomputer  -s)

         restart       (Ex:- shutdown  -m  \\mycomputer -r)

         abort         (Ex:- shutdown  -m  \\mycomputer  -a)

-t xx To shutdown in specific interval.

            (Ex:-  shutdown  -t  10  -c “Comment"

-f Forcedly closing the running application

           (Ex:-  shutdown –f )

-d [u][p]:xx:yy

     U:- user code

     P:- Planned code

                        Reason code for shutdown.

                        xx:- is the major reason code (Positive integer less than 256)

                        yy:- is the minor reason code (Positive integer less than 65536)

     
     Ex:- shutdown  -d[u][p]:20:21 -s

Internet Explorer tips and tricks:-

1) By entering domain name and pressing Ctrl+Enter keys , full url address field will be appeared .

2) For presentation mode use F11 key.That means full screen will come, to comeback from full screen to normal mode is called toggle back.

3) Hold Ctrl key and move mouse up and down , then page will be Enlarged or lowered.

4) Alt+left arrow, page will be moved backward.

5) Alt+right arrow, page will be moved forward.

6) To select address field use Alt+D

7) Using F4 key shows list of urls visited.

8) Push mouse wheel button and move mouse up and down to scroll page

9) Using F5 , current visited webpage ‘s request will be send to webserver to get new page

10) Using F3, search column box display will be displayed. If you type text in the textbox and clicks the button , it will find where that Text is available on the webpage.

11) Hold shift key and click on link, it will open new window.

12) Using ‘esc’ button , flash images will be stopped.

13) Using Ctrl+ I Favorites will be opened in left pane. To disappear this Again
press Ctrl+I. This is called as toggle back.

14) Using Ctrl+D url will be saved. These will be stored in C:\DocumentsandSettings\UserAccountName\Favorites

15) Using Ctrl+B , Organize favorites box will be opened. This is used to move saved urls in new folder, to delete url or rename the url.

16) select some text on the page and right click and select print option to take print or go to file options to give print.

17) Open the favorites menu and drag url to move up or down.
