License tagging for File:003Venusaur.png

Thanks for uploading File:003Venusaur.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:07, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the ping, I have responded at the relevant discussions on WT:PCP. Artichoker[talk] 19:55, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Goodness me

Permethius!

  • WT:PCP is a platform for discussion about improving Wikipedia's coverage of Pokémon, and not the place for discussion pertaining to how much other editors like your signature.
  • Speaking of your signature, please remove the <big> markup; it's against policy.
  • And finally, it would have been nice if you had asked me before lifting the "IT'S SPELLED Pokémon" message from my userpage.

It is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. And once again, please remove the "<big>" markup from your signature. Thank you. -sesuPRIME talk • contribs 18:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Lifeline

You're welcome. Feel free to open more discussions on the article's talk page regarding the review, and I'll respond with my two cents if I can. Good luck. - SoSaysChappy (talk) 02:42, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Try using a news search on Google. It's a good way to avoid all the blog/MySpace/YouTube/lyric depot/subscription streaming/download service/basic info sites and other unhelpful results you'd have to scroll through on a web search. Here's a Google News search result of the song; use it to try to find as much good relevant info as you can. In the meantime, someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Songs will rate the article. If the assessor feels that what's in the article right now is a good amount of content that is capable of being developed into a more substantial article, it might be rated as a start-class article, and you can improve upon it from there. If you still can't find enough information from verifiable sources, it simply might not be there yet. In that case, the article might be deemed a stub. Like you acknowledged, the song is still fairly new, and all I could suggest is to be patient and allow for more encyclopedic content on the song to become available, and including it in the article if/when it does. If after some time it looks like the song might never generate enough content to push it beyond "stub" status, it could possibly be redirected to the article for the album on which the song appears, despite its nobility for being a number one single on the rock charts. - SoSaysChappy (talk) 18:14, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Bulbasaur as mascot

Since when is Bulbasaur considered the mascot of the franchise? The line and citation you copied were taken directly from Pikachu, and that source says Pikachu is the "most popular" and the mascot. Note that there is a difference between "one of the most popular" and "the most popular". If you're going to say that about Bulbasaur, you need to use a source that's about Bulbasaur. I just noticed your message on my talk page;
I meant IRC internet relay channels or something like that
You should be able to access IRC by clicking either [this or this
If neither of those work for you, you may need to download a client - or IRC might not be available over your internet connection.

writing for the Signpost

Great! A couple areas where we always appreciate more help: the "Discussion report", "In the news", and "News and notes". All three of these are compilations of small items, so it's easy to collaborate by adding bits and pieces at a time. The drafts for the coming week are usually linked from the planning room. Also, if you're up for, you can sign up as a backup for one or more or the regular features, and then I'll contact you on weeks when the regular writer can't do it.

Also, it's really helpful to add interesting tips that you think might be good for the Signpost to the tip line. If you give a nice summary that can be incorporated directly into Signpost coverage, that's even better.--ragesoss (talk) 18:08, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Lifeline

After a quick glance, it could use a good copyedit to fix some grammar and prose issues. Also, try to format the references with Template:Cite web and Template:Cite news so that they don't simply appear in the reflist as bare links. After that, if you feel it's worthy of being GA (see WP:WIAGA) don't be afraid to re-nominate it. - SoSaysChappy (talk) 16:37, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:Copy-Edit

Sure, I'll copyedit it, but I should let you know that I've never heard of the song and I don't know anything about Papa Roach, so I won't be able to fix/add any information, I'll only deal with things like grammar, etc.. -sesuPRIME talk • contribs 23:27, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry it took so long, but I finally copyedited it. I left 4 hidden messages throughout the article with concerns that should be addressed. Also:

  1. I recommend the "Music video" section be trimmed so it's a brief overview rather than a play-by-play of the video's scenes.
  2. I recommend expanding the references using the Cite web template.

Orphaned non-free media (File:003Venusaur.png)

Thanks for uploading File:003Venusaur.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:41, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Papa Roach Lifeline MV.png

Thank you for uploading File:Papa Roach Lifeline MV.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Σxplicit 21:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Please update your status with WP:VG

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Kevin Smith RB.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2008/football/nfl/01/21/kevinsmith/Smith.jpg. As a copyright violation, File:Kevin Smith RB.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Kevin Smith RB.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Giants27(c|s) 16:02, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Kevin_Smith_RB.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Kevin_Smith_RB.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SoWhy 16:08, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Admin Coaching

Hi, I was doing a bit of tidying up at Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching, and I saw that your status was "Orangemike".

Was coaching ever sorted out? If so, could you please ask Orangemike to add you to the list at Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Status and remove your entry at the Requests page?

If it fell through, and you are still interested in being coached, could you remove the "Orangemike" from the entry?

If, on the other hand, you are no longer interested in being coached, perhaps you would consider removing your request from the list?

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
