advice
[edit]I'm interested in articles on fiction, and experienced in deletion process here, and I am going to try to rescue as much of this as possible, because I think the series does meet our requirements for inclusion.
But please proceed more slowly and carefully: no not make articles for individual characters unless you have good third party sources discussing those characters in particular, which will not be very common. Otherwise, include them in the article in the book or the series, or, at the most , a list of characters.
But for a book, the article too will only stand here if there are sources--the criteria are at WP:NBOOK. What normally meets the criteria is book reviews, or, alternatively prizes. You can usually get a few such reviews from google News, and any librarian can help you find others. If you can not find these sources, it is a very good idea just to start with the article on the author, wait until it is accepted for a while,
When you do write about a book, you need to include more than the plot: you need to talk about when it was published, and what the critical reception was. Again,a librarian can help you. And please remember never to take plot or character information from any previously published source, such as the author's web pages or Amazon--articles where that is done will always be rapidly deleted.
For this particular series, please don't add any more articles until we have dealt with the ones you have already written. What you should do instead, is add information and references. DGG ( talk ) 04:17, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, Natron25. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:33, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- It looks like you've been trying to add yourself to Wikipedia since 2012. (I've found evidence to suggest that you are the author himself.) Please stop. This is seen as self-promotion and it's not kosher on here, especially since the prior deletions would have given you enough information to where you should be aware of what is needed to pass NBOOK. The guidelines haven't changed that much since 2012 and the sources you're using in your articles do not show notability. Right now the only reason you're not permanently blocked as a promotional account is because you've made edits on other articles, but I am debating whether or not to give you a short block since you've already had enough warning to know that, at the very least, that you shouldn't be making articles of this nature, as there's not only a COI that you haven't divulged but the pages still do not establish notability. Wikipedia is not a place to spread awareness of your work. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:39, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Also, understand that notability is WP:NOTINHERITED by any association with a notable writer. Since Ralphwoodsmith has only edited pages concerning this author, I have to assume that they were someone you asked to come and edit with you. They need to divulge their COI as well. I'm going to give you a short block because you've already had enough prior warning that these topics would not pass notability guidelines and at this point it does seem like it's being done to promote yourself on Wikipedia. Bringing someone else on to edit with you doesn't really make things look much better, honestly. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:49, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
November 2016
[edit]
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:51, 9 November 2016 (UTC)- Initially I was only going to make this temporary, but the more I thought about it the more I felt that this should be an indefinite time period. You've tried to make articles for yourself and your work since 2012. You've made some edits to other articles, but by large the bulk of your edits seem to be to add yourself to Wikipedia or to edit about things/people you're affiliated with. You've already had warning in the past, on multiple occasions, about what was needed for notability on here. That you've been editing since 2012 and never saw fit to be transparent about any COI makes everything that much worse. Wikipedia is not a place to promote yourself and it's inappropriate to try to get someone else to come and make an article on your behalf. Please do not try to add yourself (or get anyone else to) again. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:54, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
