User talk:Moosd
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Moosd, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article about yourself. Writing about yourself is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians.
As this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. We require individuals to meet Wikipedia's definition of a notable person to accept articles about them. A page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to or change it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

hi, my article is actually not about myself; I made an article about someone who is quite prominent in the educational institution I used to be part of! If you need proof of my identity I am happy to provide it! :)

- I advise reading WP:COI, but no further identification is needed (unless you have connection, as defined in COI), but even then, disclaimer note on the talkpage is enough. A09 (talk) 18:31, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- I've seen your message, and I'll reply in detail here later. Just to say for now that A09 has perfectly summed up the position regarding identification, you have to tell us of any COI, but not who you are Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:47, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
Please read the guidance below:
- When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
- Most of your supposed independent sources are obviously written by him, eg his publications, Hippomedics and University profile, or likely to be written by him, like his college profile, or are irrelevant like Scopus and his publications. Academics write articles, that doesn't make them notable.
- As a full professor, he probably meets the notability criteria above, but it is for that and the award not for his publications
- You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
- I've seen worse, but it has a resume-like tone. You don't need to put "professor" every time you mention him, make value judgements like "prestigious" or make claims like known for his research into the middle ear of the naked mole rat, but your ref is him. You can only say that if there is significant mention in independent secondary sources (not primary publications)
- There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
- You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
- Your text is badly underlinked, even physiology and naked mole rat are unlinked
- You can have a selected publications section, listing major publications, no refs needed for that, but can't be used as refs either
