ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:07, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
2025 Masters Tournament excessive detail
[edit]Good morning, I noticed you placed a maintenance banner in the criteria section of the 2025 Masters tournament. While there is a lot of information shared in this section, it is necessary since it shows how each player in the field qualified for the major golf tournament. It is like this for most of the articles for Masters Tournaments. I am removing the banner and will work on thinking of a better way to list this info. Until then, it needs to stay as is please. Best, Ktkvtsh (talk) 14:44, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- This problem has been brought up multiple times on golf articles that were submitted to WP:ITN/C. The qualification lists are excessively detailed and impenetrable to a non-expert reader, who is presented with a huge block of bullet points. That is one of the issues that is preventing us from posting those articles in the In the News section of the Main Page. Just because it has been used in the past doesn't mean it's not a problem. This issue has been discussed with WP:GOLF members before, who agreed that there needs to be a better way of presenting this information or moving it to a supporting article (unfortunately I can't immediately find those discussions). The issue has not been fixed so I will restore the tag. Modest Genius talk 16:10, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- We have moved them before to another article before, and usually that fixes it the first time, but it seems the articles then are returned after sometime, so maybe its something that maybe the standard isn't perfect, but might be tolerated if left alone. But I do agree a article split could work again. I did remove some fluff as either its repeated somewhere else in summaries or its not important in the long run. Its closer to what the 2023 Masters section looks like. TheCorriynial (talk) 17:03, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

The article FECN (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
new dab with a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and one other:
1. created against WP:ONEOTHER "If there are only two topics to which a given title might refer, and one is the primary topic, then a disambiguation page is not needed",
2. WP:DIFFCAPS - so we have 2 WP:PTs - hatnotes are how we do this - I've reverted to those
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Widefox; talk 22:31, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
FeCN FECN
[edit]I fixed up the mess at Iron cyanide and did actually plan how to dab these two items per policy, only to see you undo the fix so the mess reverts to a dab instead of where readers can get info, If you look at Iron cyanide - there's a link to the article. May I suggest you check the links I posted before changing primary topics again. Widefox; talk 22:38, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, what? I don't understand this message. Your edit to Iron cyanide looks fine and I didn't undo it, nor was there a 'mess' there. I did undo the irrelevant hatnote you inserted in the middle of a featured list, and will do so again. There is no WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for 'fecn', as a quick Google search will show you. A disambiguation page is the best way to handle that. Modest Genius talk 19:13, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- For completeness, when I search for 'fecn' (regardless of capitalisation), the first two pages of Google hits contain nine results about the networking concept, nine chemistry results, and one guitar. That's not a primary topic. Modest Genius talk 19:23, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- The primary topic is FECN - you created a dab at FECN (disambiguation), so it has a PT by definition. Please read the links I already gave you. The dab will be deleted per MOS. Widefox; talk 22:10, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for your edit to the disambiguation page FECN (disambiguation). However, please note that disambiguation pages are not articles; rather, they are meant to help readers find a specific article quickly and easily. From the disambiguation dos and don'ts, you should:
- Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
- Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
- Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry
- Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
- Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
- Do not insert external links or references
Please read, this disrupting editing must stop. We follow WP:MOSDAB quite strictly. If you look at the example for acronym primary topics, that was my work so it may be worth reading. Widefox; talk 22:20, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
