Orphaned non-free image File:RK Metković logo.svg

Thanks for uploading File:RK Metković logo.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:42, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

CSD-tagging old drafts
Hi there, I see you're CSD tagging a lot of drafts, some several months old, as test pages. There's really no need to do this - when a draft has been untouched in draft space for 6 months, it will be deleted via WP:G13. -- asilvering (talk) 03:31, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- I also don't see much point in tagging for speedy deletion userpages for users who created their userpage then never edited again. User:A certified hood classic - one edit more that a year ago; User:Barret Arrt - created their usepage in May 2023 and never edited again. Sure, some of them, like User:David Hustle Banks, look very WP:U5-able, but they've just created a userpage and then never edited again. Is there a particular reason you are tagging them? There may well be good reasons, but I can't see why. Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 10:55, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- I do see where you're coming from but does it even matter if the user's only edit is to create their user page? A page can still be a U5 violation regardless of when it was created. Spam has been a problem within Wikimedia and small actions of deleting such pages plays a part in keeping spam within Wikimedia at a minimum. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 12:46, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- They don't get indexed by search engines, so they just sit there doing nothing. It's not really important to go after them. Every time you make a CSD you're urgently calling an admin out to take some kind of action. Once we're already there, we might as well delete the thing, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a waste of everyone's time in the first place. -- asilvering (talk) 15:18, 2 October 2024 (UTC)

MLB Postseason SVG images
Hi Minorax,
Thank you so much for fixing the MLB SVG logos I've been uploading. I wanted to ask if there's any tool I can use to check for errors? I've been using https://svgcheck.toolforge.org/index.php and it didn't show any errors there, so I was confused to see the error message after uploading it onto Wiki. Beat me to it
I just saw that you put a speedy deletion notice on User:M akshatha's sandbox page before I even finished typing out my message of warning to them. I guess I wasn't fast enough! I'm also more hesitant to use speedy deletion after a hit and miss experience earlier on.
For future reference, what should regular users (like me) do if they come across edits like that? Sirocco745 (talk) 05:15, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- This user seems to be a part of a editathon (see new creations of userpages at Special:NewPages) so their probably instructed to insert some basic info of themselves and the content they've added isn't U5-able enough. Generally, a U5-able page resolves around a certain entity and the user doesn't have any others constructive edits out of their userpage. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 05:20, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I picked up on those new user pages as well. Those don't really fit any of the speedy deletion criteria, which is annoying because they're clearly not constructive edits in nature, but there's no proper reason to delete them. WP:IAR does exist, but it doesn't feel right to invoke the "this is the only way" button for these pages. Sirocco745 (talk) 05:24, 19 October 2024 (UTC)

Copyright discussion
Good afternoon, Minorax. You've occasionally reviewed and approved JPGs or PNG files I have uploaded, showing fraternity crests, coats-of-arms, or logos. I've recently engaged in a discussion on the Media copyright question page about a specific member badge image I uploaded, which was contested by another admin on licensing grounds. Would you review this post, and weigh in if we are missing something? Our Project group aims to follow standard rules here, and we thought we had been, until this ad-hoc complaint. Are these complaints legitimate? Or are they in error? Thanks! Jax MN (talk) 19:51, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2024).

Interface administrator changes
- Following an RFC, the policy on restoration of adminship has been updated. Previously this applied only to administrators deysopped for inactivity.
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.
- Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.
- The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
- An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.

Redirect suppression and renaming files
Hi Minorax. While I was looking at some recently renamed files, I noticed that you generally rename files without leaving behind a redirect, including each of your 24 most recent moves. Per WP:PMRC, redirect suppression is permitted only for redirects that would have otherwise been eligible for speedy deletion. (Indeed, "a pattern of using the permission to suppress redirects that would not have been eligible for one of the criteria for speedy deletion" is a ground for revocation per WP:PMRR#3.) There used to be a boldly added redirect-suppression criterion PMRC#10 (old page version) "Moving little-used files when all uses have been manually changed to the new title (WP:CSD#G6)" from 2019 to 2022, but it was removed because there was substantial opposition to deleting/suppressing these redirects, so it didn't have the consensus necessary to be included in a criterion for speedy deletion.
With that in mind, could you tell me what criterion for speedy deletion (or equivalently redirect suppression), if any, each of the following suppressed move redirects (to pick a handful) would fall into?
- File:KTYT.PNG to File:Wikipedia preferences page for Rocketman116 screenshot.png
- File:VIR Raceway.png to File:Virginia International Raceway logo.png
- File talk:Desire Poster.jpg to File talk:Desire (1996 film) poster.jpg
- File:Inchulk181.jpg to File:The Incredible Hulk Issue 181.jpg
(If your answer is that they wouldn't fall into any of the criteria, that's perfectly fine with me so long as you intend to limit your redirect suppression to those criteria in the future.) SilverLocust 💬 08:26, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Except for File 3, I do not have any strong standing on suppressing the redirects, and I apologise for that and will limit redirect suppressions in future. For FNC7 files, I believe that redirects should be suppressed as long as all incoming links are changed to the new title, if not there isn't a difference of moving the files to a less ambiguous title. However, it still doesn't necessarily comply with WP:FRN so I'll just leave redirects after moving in future. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 08:46, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Great, thanks! For
WP:FNC#7WP:FNC#9 [edit: oops, for some reason I was thinking you had said WP:FNC#9.], redirect suppression is certainly permitted and helpful. There's a criterion for that at WP:PMRC#5/WP:R4. SilverLocust 💬 08:52, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Rox Aahan

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Rox Aahan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
