You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Michael Xavier) for editing your own biography, contrary to WP:COI.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:30, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi HJ.
I didn’t realise I couldn’t edit a page which is about me. Some things on there were incorrect like my height “He is famously five foot six inches” when I’m actually six foot three. I also wanted to add more correct/accurate links and references. I thought this would help rather than hinder the page.
In future, what should I do to amend issues?
Thanks. Michael. Michaeldxavier (talk) 00:01, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Michaeldxavier, your transparency and willingness to communicate is always appreciated. 2 things:
1. You are more than welcome to suggest edits to your article on its talk page (this link) such as the one you mentioned regarding your actual height. But you yourself are no longer permitted to edit your own article per HJ's notice above. Opening a discussion with editors on what edits you'd like to suggest be implemented would be the best course of action moving forward. You are also invited to the discussion that has now opened suggesting the page be deleted (link). This link is also available on the header of the article. After reading over the relevant policies regarding notability, and biographies of living persons please feel free to input your comments on the deletion discussion.
2. Per your comment (on a second account's talk page?), there was nothing "wrong" with the article, per sé. I was of the opinion that it does not meet Wikipedia's standards for notability--some editors have already offered commentary agreeing/disagreeing with me on the deletion discussion page. The nature of discussions here on Wikipedia is collaborative and decisions are often taken by means of consensus.
Pinging @HJ Mitchell for additional insight as he is the blocking admin. Also @ToBeFree as he is more a knowledgable editor than I on these topics and many others!
Thanks and happy editing. That Coptic Guyping me! (talk) (contribs) 17:38, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please also see Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request and Wikipedia:Guide to effective COI edit requests for more information on what I described. That Coptic Guyping me! (talk) (contribs) 17:47, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, TCG!
I appreciate your info on this. It’s rather frustrating not to be able to amend incorrect info myself but I understand the reasons why. In terms of the comments on ‘notability’ there are many articles online that I’m in or referred to. Should I dig out the URLs for these and pass them on? If so, where do I send them? I’d love to be able to help and to make sure the page stays up-to-date and correct. I have no idea who added that my height is “famously 5 foot 6 inches.” That did make me chuckle!
I think here maybe an issue with the Canadian actor of the same name. I was advised by my U.K and American agents to add a letter to my name to differentiate between us. Hence I am now professionally known as Michael D. Xavier. Maybe this could be added for search purposes? Again, not 100% sure how/where to request these amendments. Any advice is greatly appreciated. And thanks again for your reply! All the best. Michael. Michaeldxavier (talk) 21:24, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Michaeldxavier, there is a huge difference between removing factually incorrect information and adding new information. As Wikipedia requires verifiability, you may neither replace nor add content without providing a source. You may, however, simply remove anything factually incorrect. Unless you're blocked from editing, that is; you may then click "Talk" above the article instead and click "New section"; explain your problem there and add {{Edit partially-blocked}} at the top of your message to attract attention. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:40, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, ToBeFree!
Thanks for helping to clarify this for me. Just so you know, the recent amendments I made were a few incorrect facts which I removed/changed (like my height which was completely wrong) and the adding of credits including adding external links to the productions as well as some links to articles related to certain shows/films I was in. I therefore don’t really see any problem in these edits as they’re factually correct and provide a form of verification. Am I still missing the mark here? I obviously don’t want the page to be deleted and am happy to follow any guidelines going forward - I certainly won’t attempt to amend it myself ever again. I do hope the page remains on Wikipedia as it’d be a shame to lose this documentation of my life and career. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help. Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone, just one note about Michael Xavier Actor (talk · contribs): That account was last used 11 years ago, but an email address is set. Michaeldxavier, you may like to regain access to the account if you still have access to the e-mail account associated with it. Simply reset the password. However, the block applies to you as a person, and you'll need to adhere to it independently of the technical enforcement placed on the "Michaeldxavier" account. That would else be block evasion. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:37, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
