Jamboree (pronunciation: \ ˌjam-bə-ˈrē \) is a test preparation company headquartered in New Delhi, India. It provides test preparation materials for SAT, GMAT, GRE, TOEFL and IELTS.[1] Jamboree teaches students through classroom programs, asynchronous and synchronous video lessons, distance education, private tutoring, practice questions, and digital products. Its services include training and admissions counselling — the whole process of going abroad, from preparing to joining a foreign university.[2] Jamboree strives to make test preparation simple and easy. The company also has a free mobile app for Android and iPhone to improve vocabulary.

History

[edit]

Jamboree was founded in 1993 by Akrita Kalra in a garage at her parents’ home. Kalra started coaching two students in SAT preparation after she completed the entire process of applying to Brown University, but could not join the prestigious university due to personal reasons.[3] A few years later, she was joined by Vineet Gupta, an IIT Delhi graduate in mechanical engineering.[4] Gupta had earlier cleared the GMAT with flying colours but the lack of finances prevented him from joining a business school of his choice. Under Kalra’s tutelage and Gupta’s business acumen, the fledgling education company took off and flourished producing splendid results in GMAT, GRE and SAT.

Jamboree started its admission counseling service in the year 2003. It provides application support and interview preparation guidance to students who are interested in joining Ivy League and other prestigious institutes around the world.[5]

Global Presence

[edit]

At present, Jamboree has 35 centers across 22 cities and 4 countries including India, Singapore, Nepal and UAE. With the help of its online and live streaming courses, Jamboree has widened its reach to include GMAT, GRE and SAT aspirants across the world.[6]

On January 10, 2018, Arjun Shah, a Jamboree student from Dadar, Mumbai made history by scoring a perfect 340 in GRE.[7] On April 3, 2018, Jeevanjot Singh from Gurgaon repeated the same feat.[8]
