Article draft feedback

[edit]

This is a good starting point for article additions! Noting the impact of the Orange Line in particular seems like a good addition, and that particular angle of this discussion could likely be expanded further. Some other notes I have as you continue researching, adding, and revising are:

  • the single biggest thing is additional content--what else have you researched to include in this article that isn't already in it? What do you still plan to research and add? You might take a look at a more fully-developed article about a city to see what sections or types of information this article could still use as you improve it. One example that is well developed is the San Francisco article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco
  • you will want to be careful to avoid bias in your additions (for example, some of the real estate discussion happening sounds promotional rather than informational in this draft)
  • make sure that you are thoroughly reading and understanding and accurately representing the information in your sources. The realtor.com article isn't a particularly high-quality source to begin with, but also the body text of it beyond the headline and infographic doesn't quite map to your current article additions (it's focused on density of millennials in zip codes and on relative price in that zip compared to the nearest metro area...the small section specific to Milwaukie actually notes that home sales slowed compared to the previous year).
  • every time a statement of fact is made (such as "A big draw to the city was noticed right after the new Orange-line from TriMet finished in 2015"), add the source at the end of that sentence rather than only once at the end of the paragraph.
  • you will want to proofread carefully after you've fleshed out further additions (fragment sentences, informal language like "bomb", and some verb tense shifts or spots where not quite the word you intended ended up in the sentence are particularly worth looking for)

I think those are my biggest notes based on this draft. Let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to seeing your final edits! Nicoleccc (talk) 15:31, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
