Welcome

[edit]

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such unreasonable information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, and will result in your account being blocked.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!-Andrew c 03:28, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Musical groups with head in its name

[edit]

The category you created is up for deletion at this CfD. You may want to review WP:CAT to see how categories are used on wikipedia. They are reserved for the most notable and defining aspects and attributes that are used to describe the subjects of wikipedia articles. Similar categories that grouped otherwise unlike things by trivial semantic similarities have in the past been deleted. Just imagine what the bottom of a page would look like if word plays like this were taken to an extreme with categorization. Anyway, feel free to comment at the CfD, or ask me any questions you may have. Thanks for your consideration, and good luck in the future.-Andrew c 03:28, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Rexec

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Rexec, by Nuttah68 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Rexec seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Rexec, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 15:01, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, the bot warning is misleading - I deleted the article on other grounds. Wikipedia is not a repository of original source texts, such as *nix command manual pages (Wikisource is a repository of original texts, but not manual pages, either). Also, the content put here has to be compliant with GNU Free Documentation License; manual pages are rarely distributed under this specific license. This is the primary reason why I deleted it speedily. Also, there's the problem of focus; we don't cover how-to material, such as manual pages; we're only supposed to give an overview of a topic. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 21:12, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
