Wow, that's a lot. Is there some simple way to get started?

This seems a little overwhelming. Did you just write all that or cut and paste? Is there a simple place for someone new like me to get started?

You can reply here - I see that in my "watchlist". You have one too (on the top toolbar). The table is a template, which some editors wrote and I pasted to your talk page using a simple string {{welcomeg}}. There is no "should" - you can choose tasks that you like. Yes, it is a large tree of subpages, and the top is somewhere in WP:TEMP. It may be more convenient to keep this talk page for communication and practice edits in the general WP:Sandbox or your personal sandbox. You should have a tab "My sandbox" on top.
