You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Andreas Mastrandreas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Shirt58 (talk) 12:36, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article George Manias has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Why?

[edit]

I created 2 pages ("Doxa Arvanitochoriou" and "Kassos Local League") and the administrators deleted them again and again! Why? Did I do something in a wrong way?? Manolios5 (talk) 17:34, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question for administrator

[edit]

<Why am I blocked? And why the pages that I created were deleted again and again??>

--Manolios5 (talk) 17:30, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are blocked because you kept on posting pages that you were told were unacceptable. A league on an island the size of Kassos is very unlikely to be notable, and the players all fail WP:ATHLETE as they are amateur and have no other notability. I'm sorry, but these are our policies. You were warned about this - why did you ignore the warnings and repost the same things? We don't delete articles just for fun. Ignoring warnings is regarded as disruption because it causes the administrators and patrollers so much more work. You were also invited to the Teahouse - a discussion and question area. You could have asked there "Why?" long before you got blocked. You could have asked any of the administrators for more information. YUou may have posted in good faith, not understanding. But we can't tell that from vandalism sometimes - if the user won't say anything or ask a question. Peridon (talk) 19:45, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK I understand. But, if a person is an amatuer athlete, is not an athlete at all? And if a team is an amateur team, isn't a team at all? Why is that distinction in your policy? Because of the small size of our island, we haven't the right to write for our sport history in wikipedia? This is unjust and sad for us. Manolios5 (talk) 11:42, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We can't list everyone and everything. A year or so back, we had someone writing about a football league on an island. When you looked at it, there were two teams, with three players each. (And the oldest player was about 11 years old.) OK, you're bigger than that. But we have to draw a line somewhere. Professional or amateur - that's easy to work out. Amateur can still get in, but only if they are very notable. People like Chris Chataway were amateur, but they are well known. I'm afraid that you and your league are not yet well known. Some day, maybe. But perhaps not. If you enjoy playing the game, why worry? Peridon (talk) 13:28, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I worry because there are thousands of Kassian people (of first, second and third generation) in all over the world (USA, Australia, South Africa etc) and wikipedia is the only way for them to know the sport history of their island. May I am wrong, but I am really disappointed by this progress. Manolios5 (talk) 15:01, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think that you can unblock my account after the reasons I gave you. Manolios5 (talk) 6:48 am, Today (UTC−5)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. —DoRD (talk) 12:28, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. This request does not include enough detail for me to assess whether you are likely to make useful edits in the future, or not. If you decide to request unblock again, please be specific about how you would edit differently in the future, and what specific improvements you would be making to the encyclopedia. I cannot tell, from reading this request, whether you understand Wikipedia's notability criteria or not, and the discussion above makes it appear that you do not. Given that you will not be allowed to write about your amateur league or its players, what do you want to write about? Please note that comments made above will almost certainly also apply to local amateur leagues in other sports.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:04, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
