Non-encyclopedic content
[edit]
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place for blogging or promotion. So please do not try to use Wikipedia to promote yourself or your family, band, product, or company. The subjects of our articles have to meet certain notability requirements and be written from a neutral point of view. Off-topic material may be deleted at any time, even if it's on your user page. We're sorry if this message has discouraged you from editing here, but the ultimate goal of this website is to build an encyclopedia. Thank you.Augmented Seventh (talk) 18:14, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
- It was not necessarily my intention to be promotional. I added the music tracks, music videos, and url skrillamerch.com solely for informational purposes only. The music track and music video references were for preventing mix ups with fake accounts and confusion with out of context phrases. Please complain on a self-made talk page on your own account if you have any issues. Magic facewall (talk) 05:26, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
Referencing (top)
[edit]Should references beginning at the start of a sentence (e.g., first middle last (born May 16 2026),[1]) be included in the short description of a wikipedia page about a BLP? If not, why should they be removed, and for what reason(s)? What are the exceptions? What proper referencing format should be used to avoid issues? Magic facewall May 16, 2026 12:08 UTC
| This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
- References should not be included in the Short description. See WP:RS for information about reliable sources and how to make sure everything is properly verified. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. External links
[edit]How many links are considered too many to be a problematic list? I've read WP:EL and WP:LINKFARM and need an exact number.

Magic facewall (talk) 16:21, 16 May 2026 (UTC)
- There is no exact number, they're just guidelines, though WP:ELMIN gives a better idea of what is ideal. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. What are superscript-styled numbering formats used for (i.e., "... Linguist and African-American English expert Taylor Jones has speculated that it may refer to "10-67", the police radio code used to notify of a death[11]:9:30"), what does it mean when it's used for referencing on wikipedia, what purpose(s) does it serve, and when should it be used? I need some good examples on how it's used.
Magic facewall (talk) 14:43, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
- The text you quote appears on Doot Doot (6 7) where, at the time of writing, source 11 is a video. In such cases, it's a time-stamp—9 minutes
1130 seconds. - You will sometimes see the same format used for printed sources, where the numbers refer to page(s). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:01, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
- Aren't you supposed to mean 9 minutes, 30 seconds, or is the 11 seconds intentional? @Pigsonthewing: Magic facewall (talk) 12:46, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

Hyperlinking in articles
[edit]Hi Magic facewall. Welcome to Wikipedia. I admire your efforts to contribute to Wikipedia, and for asking for help along the way.
I think it would help you if you took more time to review WP:MOS further than you have, at least enough to have some idea what is there.
MOS:LINK stands out after I've looked over Scrilla, which has a great deal of redundant links.
Keep up the good work! --Hipal (talk) 15:54, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- What do you mean that the page has a lot of redundant links, and what links are you talking about? Specification is required.
- @Hipal: Magic facewall (talk) 17:03, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- eg the links to Young Jeezy and CTE World. --Hipal (talk) 17:55, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- This is still unclear. Are you talking about the double brackets (i.e., [[Young Jeezy]] and [[CTE World]]) or the references? @Hipal: Magic facewall (talk) 18:18, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, this has to do with the double brackets within the article. The article contains multiple links to the articles Young Jeezy and CTE World. I removed one here. --Hipal (talk) 18:46, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what to make of Binksternet's edit, but I am no expert when it comes to MOS. I suggest seeking help at Wikipedia:Teahouse. --Hipal (talk) 19:10, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

Manual of Style (May 2026)
[edit]
Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Scrilla. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 19:01, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- Should overlinks only be included in group lists (i.e., "he's been influenced by artists such as 2Pac, Young Jeezy, Michael Jackson, Killer Mike, Jay-Z, Anthony Hamilton, and many others to begin rapping")? @Binksternet:Magic facewall (talk) 19:06, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

Unblock request
[edit]
Magic facewall (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log) • SI)
Request reason:
Sorry for commiting edit warring in page Scrilla. Please view edit history for problematic diffs. I admit uncertainty on whether I violated WP:3RR, but I need consensus before I unintentionally commit it again. I hate edit warring. Additionally, please tell me if I violated WP:3RR and include the specific problematic diffs that violated WP:3RR. Magic facewall (talk) 23:25, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You are blocked for edit warring, not for going over 3RR. You admit the edit warring, so the block seems correct. 72 hours is a reasonable duration. I am declining your unblock request. PhilKnight (talk) 23:59, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- What should I do to prevent unintentionally commiting edit warring in the future? 01:46, 19 May 2026 (UTC) @PhilKnight: Magic facewall (talk)
- I follow 1RR. I wrote a short essay about it WP:In praise of 1RR. PhilKnight (talk) 02:02, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- What should I do to prevent unintentionally commiting edit warring in the future? 01:46, 19 May 2026 (UTC) @PhilKnight: Magic facewall (talk)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Unblock request

Request reason:
Sorry for commiting edit warring the second time. I hate that I commited edit warring. I'll not do it again and abide by WP:1RR. The reason for the unblock request is because I want to follow 1RR and make more productive edits whenever possible. User:Magic facewall (talk) 09:50, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
Accept reason:
As you have committed to following WP:1RR indefinitely, I have lifted the block. Any violations of WP:1RR or any resumption of edit warring, especially on Scrilla even without a violation of WP:1RR, and you'll be blocked indefinitely. Please take this to heart. You are being given a final chance and WP:ROPE applies. Your edits so far have been inappropriate and we are hoping your future edits are basically completely different. Although this is not part of your unblock conditions, you would be smart to simply avoid editing Scrilla at all, as I think if you continue editing that article, you are likely to be indefinitely blocked within 24 hours. Yamla (talk) 10:03, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
Please explain in full detail on why my edits were inappropriate. @Yamla: User:Magic facewall (talk)
- Do not modify unblock requests, please. Are you seriously claiming you don't understand?!? If you really don't understand, I'll reimpose the block immediately and indefinitely. We've pointed you to WP:EW and WP:3RR over and over again and you claimed you understand the problem when you were making your unblock request. If you were lying to us just to get unblocked, that speaks extremely poorly of you. --Yamla (talk) 10:13, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- Okay sorry for striking a nerve there. Magic facewall (talk) 10:18, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- I know this is completely off-topic but should I avoid editing Scrilla indefinitely, or is there a set period of editing avoidance I can abide by that's also acceptable (i.e, I'll only allow myself to edit the page on August 10, 2026)? @Yamla: Magic facewall (talk) 10:48, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
Please start a page move in the future
[edit]I have contested your page move and moved the article back to Performative male. Please start a page move in the future as your move was not uncontroversial. Also, I failed to understand the reasoning, as there is correctly nothing else called 'Performative male' that this article can be confused with. jolielover♥talk 08:50, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- I had to clarify in the title that it was just a meme and should not be taken seriously. Magic facewall (talk) 08:56, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Jolielover: How do I move the page properly without any issues? Magic facewall (talk) 09:01, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
Person Infobox
[edit]Please don't change how person infobox images are displayed. The infobox template follows a standard style across hundreds of thousands of articles, and it says you do not add your own file links to images. Let the template do its job and decide how to display it. The template also has its own "alt" field for the image. Let the template handle that too. Thanks. Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:07, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Escape Orbit: Why shouldn't a person's infobox image be centered, and why is it a wrong image format? Magic facewall (talk) 15:12, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- Because the template has been designed around the needs for reading Wikipedia on multiple platforms. The infobox is designed to display the image in the most consistent and usable way. When you override that, you change the Wikipedia style, and also risk the infobox appearing badly on some platforms/devices/browsers/screen resolutions. Just because it looks ok on your screen does not mean it isn't messed up on everyone else's. This is why you let the infobox do what it was coded to do, and not add your own preferences of how it should work. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:20, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- Because two decades of Wikipedia editors have decided it should not be. A strong consensus has formed into a style guideline that everyone follows. In general, a gigantic image should not overpower the text. MOS:IMAGESIZE says the usual image size is 250 pixels wide. Template:Infobox_musical_artist says we should not put the full-size image into the infobox. It should end up being around 220 to 250 pixels wide. The infobox code should be allowed to scale the image size up and down for different viewers. Binksternet (talk) 15:28, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Binksternet: where does it say that full-size images are disallowed in the documentation? Magic facewall (talk) 15:37, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- In the link I provided to you it says "As a general rule, images should not be set to a larger fixed width than 250px (the initial base width), and if an exception to this general rule is warranted, the resulting image should usually be no more than 400px wide (300px for lead images)..." The maximum size of 300 pixels wide would be for a landscape-style infobox image, for instance showing a band spread out on a stage. A portrait image is 220 to 250 wide, with the infobox code free to scale it up and down in size. Stop making the infobox image so large. Binksternet (talk) 15:46, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Binksternet: where does it say that full-size images are disallowed in the documentation? Magic facewall (talk) 15:37, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
Signatures
[edit]How do you professionally retrieve artist signatures properly without it looking messy? I see their sources are album covers from ebay and need to know how to extract them.

I'm sorry
[edit]I just want to apologize about my recent edit summaries and messages towards you. While I didn't make any direct personal attacks, while rereading them, I realized that my edit summaries and talk page messages came off more aggressive than I intended. I apologize for my behavior and I am backing off the discussion at Talk: Skrillex. I should have just let it go or at least explained myself in a more level-headed manner. Especially since I was preaching being civil. I should have followed my own advice. Feel free to remove this message if you want. I just wanted to let you know I am backing off. I'm sorry and have a great day. Bowling is life (talk) 19:05, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
