Dear @Joojay, a belated thanks for all of these awesome resources. And thank you for participating in our Seven Stories Wikipedia meet up. We are starting off 2026 fresh and getting to work! Are you able to link to any of the courses to you teach by chance or pages your students have worked on so I can share them with my colleagues? Teaching Seven Stories about Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi; it was a pleasant and informative session, wasn't it? Just a notice, you correctly posted to me but you were in Simple English Wikipedia which is one of mine but not where most English-language editors will look. Since most of the group were completely unfamiliar with our methods and customs, I am currently writing a group E-mail. Eventually, we should get these discussions to operate on-wiki since it's less private that way. Oh, and I'm putting a copy of this reply in your English Wikipedia User Talk Page. ENWP is better for this. Jim.henderson (talk) 01:41, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Jim! Why did I keep getting into Simple English? So wonderful to meet you tonight. Librarysparkle (talk) 04:39, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's easy enough to get confused. The whole system of 300+ language Wikipedias and dozens of auxiliary sites all with User Pages and Talk Pages for all the few million registered users is confusing; it was not designed as a system. Rather, new wings of our house kept being added over the years whenever a particular need arose. You should put me and your friends on your Watchlist, and Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC for information about announced meetups, and check every few days at least. Jim.henderson (talk) 17:04, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Jim.henderson! It is more than a year later and we are reviving our Wikipedia editing group at Seven Stories Press. Here is the photo from our meeting a little over a year ago.
Seven Stories learns about Wikipedia from Wikimedia NYC members.
How have you been?
Seven Stories team members, please practice writing on talk pages by replying to this thread and say one thing you remember learning at this session last year, or one thing you would like to learn. Librarysparkle (talk) 18:34, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
A new year. For an ancient, feeble, retired guy I keep fairly busy, checking the edits of others, teaching at group sessions and sometimes privately, uploading and sorting pictures. Tomorrow is a Zoomcall to Philadelphia, concentrating mainly on photography for Wikipedia. Sunday January 25 is Event:Wikipedia Day NYC 2026 where I'll be doing some kind of volunteer work for the organization, attending talks by experts, and above all, gossiping with old friends and new. Perhaps you can be there with a friend or two. You are probably already in touch with Wikimedia NYC leaders who can arrange a repetition of our session a year ago, either similarly general material for new faces or something more advanced in a particular specialty. I remember fondly the experience, and could also come alone or with only a friend or two and do anything from a one on one session to a half dozen. Anyway I do hope to see you again. Hello! this is very fun! i'm excited to contribute to an ethical Wikipedia culture. Cyndaquillover (talk) 15:52, 14 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This is new for me. Sadly I missed the meeting of minds last year, so I am especially looking forward to learning more as we go.... RuthWeiner99 (talk) 19:54, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Not sure if this the right way to do this, but giving it a shot! MKA ultra (talk) 21:46, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
No problem; you're just starting; when you learn more about handling the software you can look up my first shaky contributions, ages ago. You are doing it right if you're learning, and especially if all you mess up are your own personal WP:user pages and those of your tolerant friends. You should use your Wikipedia account to register for the free Event:Wikipedia Day NYC 2026. It is eight days from now but the deadline for registration is sooner. If you look for me, I won't be wearing the shorts and maybe not the checked shirt as in the photos, but I intend to be there. You can also go to the smaller events every month where we don't bother with formalities like registration. And if a few of you would like to meet with me somewhere convenient to you, we can do that. Jim.henderson (talk) 20:26, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I hope I'm doing this right. I'm still a bit shaky about what functions I should be using and process. But excited to be here. This is so cool! :) (rasheeda) (talk)
