Dazzle camouflage

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your work. I've incorporated it into the "Other uses" section as it is clearly similar to the motor-racing application. What I'm not sure about in either case is whether it belongs in this article or needs a new one - "Dazzle" in historic usage not being something recognized by, say, zoologists in the same way as countershading. It's thus an entity with a wartime association and a rather unclear purpose (ward off attack somehow or other). If the new techniques work by adding false features then they are masquerade (self-mimicry), not dazzle; if they obscure existing features they are disruptive coloration, not dazzle either: so it seems we have a topic for a new article rather than a part of this one.

I've removed the paragraph and refs from the lead section; given the doubtful status of both the motor-racing and the personal liberty approaches, I'm not sure they belong there. There is probably enough material to begin a new article on CV dazzle or something of that sort, however. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:13, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, your user name sounds as if you are a student on a Wikipedia project? If so, good luck; and note that there ought to be a project page somewhere, and a user name per student rather than one for the whole class. Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:15, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
