New sockpuppet

[edit]

Hey again @Kajmer05, looks like another sockpuppet here [1]. You wanna go ahead and file an SPI? Surayeproject3 (talk) 23:25, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, many articles about massacres against Assyrians have been created before, like this one: Draft:Deportations of Assyrians (1915–1924) I am 100% sure that the user is a sock, but I still haven't figured out who they are. I will follow this user, thanks for letting me know! Kajmer05 (talk) 23:48, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, let me know what happens from here. I'm in awe that this has continued for so long. Surayeproject3 (talk) 01:16, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Potentially another one here at Draft:List of wars involved in Iraq. Have these socks/meats attempted to create/edit only articles that describe some type of war or conflict? Surayeproject3 (talk) 20:37, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think these are either meat or new wiki editors. They seem very inexperienced. User:Assyrian 738/sandbox Also, another Assyrian editor was blocked in the SPI file today. [2] Kajmer05 (talk) 20:45, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Who was the editor that got blocked today? Surayeproject3 (talk) 21:03, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Etcnoel1, was someone who constantly edited articles about the Assyrian war-related, and I think he was the most active Assyrian editor this year, along with you. Kajmer05 (talk) 21:08, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I'm fairly frequent in the topic of area of Assyrian articles, so any notice of new drafts or articles about these subjects are located at WikiProject Assyria. That's how I've been able to see a lot of these meat/sock articles up to now, and these latest ones were no exception. It would probably help you when dealing with new socks/meats to check the notice listings frequently so you can report before they cause greater disruptions. Surayeproject3 (talk) 01:10, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yup I'm patrolling at NPP. Kajmer05 (talk) 08:27, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

About the Mir Muhammad Rebellion page

[edit]

Thank you for correcting a change on my page that did not comply with the guidelines. Do you think I should add a note next to the Yazidis in the Infobox section, along with a source? +Since I won't be home for 10-15 days, I can't deal with it directly. BEFOR01 (talk) 19:26, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it would be a best solution for any potentially disruptive edits that may arise in the future. Kajmer05 (talk) 19:31, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I found a post on social media from the person who made the change. He said, "I will find Kajmer." BEFOR01 (talk) 20:21, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

😒

[edit]

I'm away from home at present, and circumstances are likely to cut down my opportunities to do stuff on Wikipedia. That may mean that I won't be able to deal with your request for some time, unless it turns out to be a really obvious one. However I'll have a look at it when I get a chance. JBW (talk) 15:44, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done ☺️ Once I found time to look at it, it turned out to be an easy one. Thanks for the information you provided. JBW (talk) 09:12, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much. ☺️ Kajmer05 (talk) 10:44, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you left. It's okay, right? BEFOR01 (talk) 11:27, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Everything is okay dw Kajmer05 (talk) 11:28, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Movie

[edit]

I see you are interested in Ottoman battles, there is a new good quality (famous in Hungary) tv show about Hungarian-Ottoman wars (battle of Varna, siege of Belgrade...). Characters speak with their own language. In many history movies enemy people are usually demonized in general. This is a Hungarian movie, but I think enemy, Turkish characters are fairly presented. I do not know, it is broadcasted in Turkey or in the Turkish Netflix [3] [4] [5] maybe you are interested. OrionNimrod (talk) 16:15, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. Yes, I am interested in Ottoman battles-wars because I am Turkish. I liked the trailer very much. :) Kajmer05 (talk) 14:52, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary account IP viewer granted

[edit]
The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address

Hello, Kajmer05. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with an IP address or CIDR range.

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! —Femke 🐦 (talk) 16:03, 25 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Undoing edits outside of scope

[edit]

Hello Kajmer05! When you undid the images added by Xezîn, in many cases you manually removed good edits by me. Like here. :( Example, you could have left the "website= ignored" error fix seen in that edit. I've had to go through all those removals to restore the many unrelated fixes I did, a lot of unnecessary extra work. Perhaps consider being a little more "surgical" in such cases please. Take care, LooksGreatInATurtleNeck (talk) 21:03, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@LooksGreatInATurtleNeck The user was not an extended confirmed user and there were even warnings on the user's talk page, so I had to remove their edits. I apologize if I accidentally reverted your edits. Kajmer05 (talk) 21:06, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Kajmer05! Thanks. I've finished manually restoring my unrelated fixes that had gotten removed in the sweep. It's a shame non extended confirmed users aren't automatically blocked from editing such articles, would save a lot of effort chasing after them. Take care, LooksGreatInATurtleNeck (talk) 21:14, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Kajmer05 (talk) 21:16, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

New sock/meat concerns for article called Hawpa

[edit]

Hey @Kajmer05, hope you're doing well and thanks again for the barnstar yesterday!

Since you've been keeping track of sock/meat accounts related to WP:GS/KURD this past year, would you be able to keep watch of the page Hawpa? I've outlined my concerns about its creation and editing which may indicate that members of the party are directly involved in its editing. You can see the talk page message I left here: [6]. Surayeproject3 (talk) 23:07, 4 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh, I think this will continue forever. Whenever someone gets blocked, another one comes along. Anyway, the page is already protected. I will left a CTOP notice and a warning on the talk page of the user who created this page. Kajmer05 (talk) 23:29, 4 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, thanks for taking care of that. And yeah, it's quite egregious honestly, I don't know how they have so much time to group together like this. Hopefully it will eventually come to an end, but if not, maybe it's a good idea to propose that GS/KURD be extended-confirmed protected. Surayeproject3 (talk) 23:36, 4 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I warned them, if they continue, there will be a high chance of them being banned for ECR violation. Kajmer05 (talk) 23:48, 4 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't realize it was already ECP, thanks for taking care of that. If you'd like, I can send extra concerns about this particular article and some other sock/meatpuppets I believe are on Wiki. Surayeproject3 (talk) 22:13, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'd especially like to hear your concerns about other sock/meatpuppets. Kajmer05 (talk) 22:23, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

.

[edit]

I saw that you warned me Okay, I won’t add any more, but just this once.. While fixing the source, you forgot to include the page number. Can you add the page number too? p.96 Ömereditss (talk) 18:01, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Commander Flag Icons :)

[edit]

Please note, Wikipedia guidelines are that we don't need Commander Flag Icons if they're all from the same Belligerent eg if they're all French.

I've had to edit these changes several times now. Robinvp11 (talk) 09:46, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember adding Flag Icons to those battles in the edits I made yesterday. If you mean someone else's edits, I was just trying to fix the infobox. Kajmer05 (talk) 10:05, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Guide to temporary accounts

[edit]

Hello, Kajmer05. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

How do temporary accounts work?

Editing from a temporary account
  • When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern: ~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
  • All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
  • A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
  • As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
    • There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
    • There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

How to enable IP Reveal

Impact for administrators

  • It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
  • It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
  • Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

  • Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
  • Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
  • See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.

Useful tools for patrollers

  • It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options → Tick Enable the user info card
    • This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
  • Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
  • Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
  • The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.
