This month's WikiWednesday will be focused on digital safety for editors. Guest digital security trainers will join us to lead this session. All are welcome! Please bring a laptop or the editing device of your choosing for hands-on training that will guide you through steps to take to make yourself safer online. Map data
[edit]I moved the map data for Shore Road (Port Washington, New York) out of the article and put it on Commons. This simplifies the article quite a bit and makes things easier to edit. Imzadi 1979 → 13:59, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Many, many thanks! Always appreciate your help. Wish I knew how to do that. There may be a few other articles I have made over the years where I made the map the same way. If you come across any others, I apologize (I have been trying to figure out how to do what you did for quite some time but still am unsure; please feel free to adjust them as you did for the Shore Road article if you come across any others – but only if you want). Thank you again; always value your help and expertise with these road articles!

- We have a tutorial over at https://wiki.aaroads.com/wiki/AARoads:Maps/Tutorial that includes directions on how to create the file on Commons. It also has other instructions starting from OpenStreetMap relations all the way through to putting the file on Commons to put in an article. Imzadi 1979 → 18:03, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- P.S. I imported the article over to the other wiki. You can see it at https://wiki.aaroads.com/wiki/Shore_Road_(Port_Washington,_New_York). The other wiki uses a different map gadget than Wikipedia, so you might want to check that out. NYC August: Wikimania Satellite Social + Roosevelt Island Wiknic

While Wikimania 2025 is underway in Nairobi, Kenya, you are invited to Wikimedia NYC's Satellite Social at Prime Produce on Thursday, August 7th, which will be an informal gathering of local Wikimedians and potentially feature editing, hacking, and board games. No experience of anything at all is required. All are welcome! Additionally, a second Wiknic of the season, this time on Roosevelt Island, is planned for later in the month (August 24th). Stay tuned for further updates!
