Question

[edit]

Hi! Do you know which Chessmaster game is still referring to? (the less than $75,000 budget bit) [1] Timur9008 (talk) 21:02, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

? Timur9008 (talk) 06:41, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Without additional context, I can't really tell. Could be the first one, could be the most recent one. Perhaps there is only one released on floppy disk? IceWelder [] 07:08, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah my first though was first game but the article is from 1993 and it doesn't really clarify. I will keep looking. Timur9008 (talk) 07:42, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Archive bot

[edit]

Hi! Not sure where to ask this but the Archive bot is making mistakes [2]. (both URL's are not live so I'm not sure why he is tagging them as live) Timur9008 (talk) 16:58, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Consider passing this to the people in charge. IceWelder [] 17:07, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Posted there now. Thanks! Timur9008 (talk) 02:24, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Certain typos in source titles are permissible to fix

[edit]

Please note that per WP:PMC, "titles of referenced sources should not be corrected for spelling, but minor typographic adjustments (like changing curly quotes to straight) may be made silently". A missing space after a comma in a title is a paradigmatic example of such a minor typographic adjustment, made not to correct the error of the original publisher, but so that Wikipedia does not look incompetent in its own use of punctuation. The guideline states that such fixes may be applied, but I see no particular need to do that in this situation. It will be clear to most, if not all, readers that citation titles are quotes, with or without errors. Furthermore, "minor typographic adjustments" are not well-defined in that guideline; if quote styles are the prelevant example, it would occur to me as though only technical-level fixes are supposed to be made here. Perhaps this is a discussion for a wider forum, but I lack the time at this moment to hold one. IceWelder [] 17:20, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ed Fletcher foto

[edit]

Hi! I've posted Fletcher's photo before [3]. But it doesn't appear to load anymore.

I was gonna maybe upload it to the Gridiron article.

Do you see the same error? I'm not sure if it's something on my end. Timur9008 (talk) 07:05, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The link to the photo itself states that the image has not been archived. Either you've seen it somewhere else or the image has been removed. Either way, uploading photos is usually not possible because they are non-free media with a potential free equivalent (WP:NFCCP #1). IceWelder [] 17:26, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
