Localities in N.S.

[edit]

Hi there. I've been working on Nova Scotia geography articles for the better part of the last year, and I've always wanted to get around to tidying up the lists but it's a daunting task. I was inspired by your list of localities in Alberta, and I threw together a list of localities in Nova Scotia in my userspace based on that. The issue I am now facing is that I can't find sources to explain what exactly a locality is in Nova Scotia ... I have a good idea what they are, but naturally I need to confirm. I was wondering if you might be able to help, you seem to know your way around this stuff. Any feedback you might be able to provide on my list so far would be appreciated as well -- once this is all said and done, I'd like to move on to list of communities in Nova Scotia (what a sad article). Thanks, MediaKyle (talk) 13:33, 3 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't been able to find a definition for class IV areas for explanation at List of designated places in Nova Scotia either. Have you inquired with Nova Scotia GeoNAMES about how they define locality? In doing so you can encourage they publish definitions. The funny thing about what has inspired you is it started first as List of unincorporated communities in AlbertaList of unincorporated communities in Alberta, which I tried to get deleted and was unsuccessful. Once I found a provincially-published list of localities, I created that the list and boldly redirected unincorporated communities to it accordingly. Bye, bye to the incomplete unreferenced garbage that was before. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 04:36, 25 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
