[edit] Hello, I'm Explicition. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Shimon bar Yochai have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Explicition (talk) 00:59, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Explicitacion! After reviewing my edits to Shimon bar Yochai I can see why you thought my edit appeared to not contribute new information because of the unclear wording. But I was rewording it to make clear that the consensus shows Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai is the author of the Zohar. As well as moving it to the top of the Mysticism section to emphasize his global impact on Kabbalah. I have since fixed my mistake while still maintaining the correct information, thank you for pointing it out! GreenEditor101 (talk) 01:03, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Shimon bar Yochai, you may be blocked from editing. GordonGlottal (talk) 02:13, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Gordon Glottal! I was just clarifying that because the general consensus is that Shimon bar Yochai is the author of the Zohar, and the intro is supposed to give a brief and straight forward explanation about who he is. I understand there is lots of mixed information and I should have left sources to back up the point so I will add some to the page now. GreenEditor101 (talk) 01:02, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- You have not understood. Shimon ben Yochai, according to every reliable source (as defined by WP:RS) ever published, lived a thousand years before the composition of the Zohar. An overview of the history of that work's attribution is available at Zohar. The Talmud certainly does not make any such claim as "Shimon and his son Elazar were noted Kabbalists" which I imagine is why you provided no source. Please refrain from making any edits which are not backed up by appropriate sourcing. GordonGlottal (talk) 20:36, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
