Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... I’m keen to self-publish a wiki page in my own name to serve engagement and connecting up in Mid Sussex local history, local walks and Christian spirituality. To that intent I’ve produced a self-profile with minimum AI advice which is at FrJohnTwisleton. How do I get this page up?FrJohnTwisleton (talk) 08:37, 23 May 2025 (UTC) FrJohnTwisleton (talk) 08:37, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page is "up" in that it is viewable to the public if they know where to find it. However, your user page is not article space, it is a place for the named user to tell about themselves as a Wikipedia editor or user only(not anything and everything about yourself). New accounts cannot directly create articles and must use the Article Wizard to create and submit a draft.
While not absolutely forbidden, it is highly discouraged for people to write about themselves. Please see the autobiography policy. People naturally write favorably about themselves, and Wikipedia tries to have a neutral point of view. For someone to succeed at writing about themselves, they need to set aside everything they know about themselves and limit themselves to summarizing what independent reliable sources have chosen on their own to say about them, showing how they are a notable person. Very, very few people can do that- I personally have never seen it happen in my many years here, though it probably has. The point is that it is rare. Are you the rare person who can do it successfully? Possibly, but the odds are against it.
There are good reasons to not want an article about yourself here, see this page as to why. 331dot (talk) 09:38, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Using AI/LLMs is inadvisable as well, please see WP:LLM. 331dot (talk) 09:39, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
