Your change at Monty Python

[edit]

I don't want to get involved in an Edit war (that's what you are now doing), but it's time you learnt about using Edit summaries. My English teachers would be turning in their graves seeing the form you have used. I know English usage varies around the world, but you don't convince others you're right by just changing their usage without comment.

Another place to justify your change is on the article's Talk page. HiLo48 (talk) 16:44, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you just ignore my post above? HiLo48 (talk) 17:02, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good Afternoon. I think we might be confusing each other a little bit here! First of all, I did not ignore your post and I don't want to get involved in a grammar argument any more than you do. I agree my use of 'were' instead of 'was' is debatable depending on whether you consider Monty Python a single entity or the individuals of a group but depending on which context is used, both can be seen as acceptable in different circumstances.

When I received your first post, I realised that the context in which I viewed Monty Python was perhaps not seen as such by a majority so I duly changed it back. I am not in the practice of avoiding summarising the details behind my edits but I admit I occasionally neglect to do so, especially since I signed with this new account. I do not intend to convince others I'm right by changing their usage without comment and I am not looking for conflict.

Kind Regards, John F.
