Julia Manning

[edit]

Hi Ernestedward. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for taking an interest in the articles of women's footballers. On the Julia Manning page you have listed her as scoring 154 goals in 29 games for Lowestoft. Is this correct? Also, Wikipedia likes information to be referenced and with many of the articles for 1980's female footballers being very short, if you have found new references it will really help the article to add them. On Terri Hinton which you recently edited, another editor has undone your change and stated the lack of source as a reason. You might wish to consider reading Help:Referencing for beginners or experimenting in your sandbox which can be accessed via the icon at the top right of the screen. I am in touch with both players you mention. Indeed I have been involved with women's football since its inception in the 1960s. I will revisit Terri Hinton and view the changes. Thank you for your helpful advice. I am aware that I have not yet learned how to add sources, this will come in time, hopefully soon. Regards. Hi again.
May I kindly ask for clarity on what the WFA Records are that you have mentioned in some of your edit summaries? Like where you are accessing them and can other people look at them too? The reason I ask is that you have changed the information on several pages including Janice Murray (footballer) where you have changed her England debut from Sweden, to the Netherlands. However, on the Women's Football Archive there is a match report on the Sweden game and it states that Murray made her debut in this match. You can read it here [1]. Wikipedia:Verifiability explains that all content must be verifiable. I am aware that there are many inaccuracies about women's football during the 70's and 80's but to give the best chance of the right information being added it really is important to add verifiable references to key alterations or additions to articles, otherwise it could be frustrating for you if the information is later removed. Happy editing.Canary757 (talk) 13:59, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As a long standing member of the WFA I have in my possession a full collection of WFA minutes, newsletters and programmes. I am also in touch with all the England players from the 70s and 80s. I believe the Women's Football Archive is no longer (for a few years) being updated and in any case was written by someone not associated with the WFA. Where I notice something with which my records disagree I will amend it. The British Library has as complete a set of WFA Minutes, newsletters as I believe exists. The FA has published the caps and goals of each England player on its website. It is important that that information is accurately represented on Wikipedia.Regards. I have had to revert your edits twice this month for adding or changing content without sources. It's great you consider yourself an expert - though please read WP:COI if you are employed by a related organisation - but Wikipedia, to put it nicely, will not take your word for it. You need to learn not only recognise if and when information is WP:DUE for inclusion, but then how to correctly reference it within the article, before continuing to try to edit. You have already been told by Canary757 back in January to read the WP:V policy and you clearly haven't bothered in the intervening three months. This is not optional.
