Speedy deletion nomination of Peaceful Meadow Retreat
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Peaceful Meadow Retreat, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 18:19, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

- I've deleted this article, not necessarily because it's non-notable, but because the text is a copyright violation. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 19:08, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Your recent articles
[edit]hey, Eknowable, it looks like you're having some trouble with creating a new article on Wikipedia. The first thing you should know is that, on Wikipedia, we can't accept a simply copy and paste of text from other websites. The problem is that, due to the nature of Wikipedia, we need all our material to be licensed appropriately in order for us to use it (with one exception called fair use, but that doesn't apply here). It's not even enough for the copyright owner to agree to let us use it; they have to release their text under the terms of the CC-BY-SA license. This licensing allows us to freely modify and release any material on Wikipedia (as long as we attribute things appropriately), but it also means that your articles, since they are copied from websites that don't release theeir content under this license, constitute copyright violations, which is one of the reasons why they're being deleted. If you want to write an article about this person, you have to use your own words, not those from a website.
However, there are also other problems that you need to address. First of all, Wikipedia has a minimum standard called notability that all new articles must meet to be kept. Notability means several different things, depending on the type of subject, but at it's most minimal, basic level, it's expressed in the general notability guideline, which says that subjects must be covered in depth by multiple, independent, reliable sources in order to have an article on Wikipedia. There are more strict requirements for people and businesses, but all articles must meet the general notability guideline at a minimum. I know that you want to get the word out on these subjects, but Wikipedia is not the place to do so; we can only write articles about subjects that have already been reported about elsewhere.
There is a third problem as well. Wikipedia is not a place for advertising or promotion, no matter the subject. Our articles have to maintain a neutral point-of-view. Your articles are full of language that is pretty clearly intended to promote the subject, whether it's the person or the business, and it just doesn't match what an encyclopedia is supposed to be.
Despite all the above, though, don't get discouraged! Wikipedia is a very tricky place, and nearly everyone has a rocky start with it. It can be a pretty fun place once you get the hang of it! You just need to learn from your mistakes. If you have any questions, feel free to talk to me on my talk page, or you can ask at the Teahouse, which is a place for new users to get friendly answers to any questions they have. Thanks!
