Censorship in Hector Sants article

Why did you attempt to hide the section regarding Sants' interview with UK Parliament Select Committee? This section was in place months prior to the Credit Suiise Iran fine controversy section being added. Do you have direct or indirect links to Sants, e.g. PR firm/consultant, lawyer, friend, family member, current or ex business associate or any other links of any kind? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.198.239 (talk) 13:20, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Certainly not, it's terrible to see that sort of thing from an administrator. I have left him a note and renominated the image for deletion. J Milburn (talk) 21:59, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Why Did You Delete my Account and My Pages?? I've worked with other Admins on this!

Why did you delete my created pages? Now my account has been deleted...I've worked very diligently with other Wikipedia admins to ensure the content of my pages is consistent with Wikipedia guidelines, and now all that work has been deleted...I work for a variety of companies who want to utilize Wikipedia to give content about their company, and NOT USE IT AS A MARKETING RESOURCE. I've worked with admins to make sure this is the case, but now everything has been deleted. I've put considerable time and effort into creating these pages and working with others to make sure they are correct and now all that work is gone.

I'm fine with updating the pages to be more fitting of the guidelines if you believe I need to. Just please reestablish my account and help me be a continuing contributor to the community. This is part of my job, and losing these pages is very detrimental, especially since others have previously approved them. Jmlnarik01 (talk) 21:05, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

    • I worked with other admins on setting these pages up, and they approved them. They are notable companies that do business so I'm sure people would be interested in validating these companies and products by reviewing them on Wikipedia - which is something I value and I'm sure many others do too. I've seen various other companies on Wikipedia and actually modeled my pages after them. Can you please give me a chance to make these pages more inline with what your expectations? Like I noted, this is part of my job and I need to ensure these pages are live considering they have been previously approved. Jmlnarik01 (talk) 00:44, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
  • Using Wikipedia for company marketing goes against the whole basis of Wikipedia. You can't put blatant product propaganda and claim to "not be marketing". Just because there are no prices listed on the postings does not mean that this is not and advertisement page. Wikipedia is not supposed to be the Sunday paper. Just the fact one is working with a group of "admins" to "generate interest", and that you will get in "trouble" does not necessitate the misuse of this tool. It truly reduces the value of all other content.

Hi, during a review of John S. Pistole, an editor found a reference regarding Pistole's comment about the founding fathers on the no-fly list. I believe it's significant enough to include in the article.

Primary schools

Hi 'E'. Thank you for your invaluable work with WP:New Page Patrol. You are quite right to assume that primary schools are not de facto notable. However, the normal procedure is to merge what we can to the page about the USA school district, or in other countries to the education section on the page about the school's locality, blank the original school page and leave it as a redirect. This avoids all the various deletion processes, the page's history remains intact, and can be restored without fuss any time in the future if need be. Whenever you make use of this initiative, please leave a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Schools. In a rare case that a primary school may indeed have some notabiity, before taking action, please either also leave a message on the school project talk page, or let me know on my talk page. Thanks, and happy editing! --Kudpung (talk) 08:33, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Andria morales

Hello E. Fokker. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Andria morales, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Asserts importance (see [1] for Award) - but surname appears incorrect. Thank you. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 05:35, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

I have modified and moved the article to reflect her surname as shown at her website; I have also proposed it for deletion - although the assertion of importance was made (and so the article did not meet the speedy deletion criteria), I do not see that she meets WP:ARTIST or WP:ACADEMIC. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 05:47, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Telephone numbers in Peru

I am trying to put some order regarding the information about mobile telephony in Peru which was outdated in the original article. A couple of sentences were wrong. I am creating a new article to move the information regarding changes in mobile numbers (which happened in early 2009) as including it on the main articles "Telephone numbers in the Americas"/"Telephone numbers in Peru" is confusing and verbose. Bosniaks

Hi there! While I was waiting for you to finish reviewing user Freudichtoll's "Turkey: 2 million Bosniaks" I was checking out the source which underlies the figure quoted in the article that Freudichtoll cites as a source [2]. The 2 million figure appears there, so for me the only questions are whether milliyet.com.tr is reliable in the WP sense of the word and whether we should add a translation into english (according to google "BOŞNAKLAR: Adapazarı, İzmir ve Manisa'da toplu halde yaşayan Boşnaklar'ın nüfusu da 2 milyonu buluyor" = "Bosniaks: Adapazari, Izmir and Manisa gregarious Bosniak population of 2 million finds" we could improve on that without much difficulty!). I'd be interested to know what led you to reject the edit. Cheers -- Timberframe (talk) 20:52, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

  • They referenced a Wikipedia article for that figure, newspapers are not really a reliable source for population statistics, official government figures should be used. E. Fokker (talk) 21:05, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

From what I can make out of the Turkish the newspaper is quoting university research. Freudichtoll appears to have made the edit in good faith, and a note in your edit summary would have given Freudichtoll a clue what needed to be done to bring the edit up to standard. -- Timberframe (talk) 21:23, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

REMLOX

Ms. Fokker, I truely appreciate that there is someone out there trying to make Wikipedia more reputible. However, I believe that it was premature for my page on REMLOX to be nominated for deleteion. It is my belief that your conclusion that REMLOX is a "Non-notable piece of software" might not be accurate. Within the computer forensics and ediscovery industries, this tool is extremely notable. It is also no less notable than other tolls listed on Wikipedia, such as Encase and Forensic Toolkit.

I would ask that you consider withdrawing your nomination for deleteion, and allowing me the opportunity to continue to create a Wikipedia-worthy page.

As an expereieced Wikipedian, I would welcome your advice on how best to achieve an entry that you would consider worthy of inclusion on this site. Dustin.sachs (talk) 01:47, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

I have added the information that you mention. I would ask that you consider withdrawing the nomination. If you still feel that this page warrants deleteion, please tell me how this page is different from EnCase or Forensic Toolkit. Thank you. Dustin.sachs (talk) 02:00, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS --Guerillero | My Talk 03:06, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

As the author of this article, I feel compelled to respond. The argument that this article references a "non-notable piece of software" viloates the guidlines established by Wikipedia for deletion, as no evidence is given to prove that it is non-notable.

Just because someone has not heard of the software, does not make it not-notable. As the sources in the article demonstrate, the software has gained recognition within the industry. While some of the data referenced in the article comes directly from the company's website, the references to news coverage and literary material comes from sites independent of the developer. Much of the lack of coverage in "mainstream" news is due to the reletive youth of the technology utilized in this software.

Additionally, item 10 under "Before nominating an article for deletion" on the Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion page states:

"10.If the article was recently created, please consider that many good articles started their Wikilife in pretty bad shape. Unless it is obviously a hopeless case, consider sharing your reservations with the article creator, an associated WikiProject, or on the article's talk page, and/or adding a cleanup tag, instead of bringing the article to AfD. If the article can be fixed through normal editing, then it is not a good candidate for AfD."

While it may be argued that this article appears to sound like a press release, I would argue that any encyclopedic article on a product could be interpreted as seeming like a press release. Sufficient opportunity to develop this article has not been provided, as it was made AfD within minutes of being posted.

I would again ask that you rescind the nomination for deletion, and allow for futher development of the page before concluding that this article is not Wikipedia material. Dustin.sachs (talk) 03:42, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

The article Robert danay has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable person; very few ghits and no gnews hits.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. OSborn arfcontribs. 01:58, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Notability on a specification description

Hi. I am the creator of the article (and technology) Jsonwsp. I can see you have added the notability and unreferenced flags to the article. Jsonwsp is a new technology which is partly in development. I don't write articles on wikipedia every day, and this one is about a community project. Anyone with the sufficient programming skills who wishes to participate can be added as a project developer.

I'm curious about what kind of citations and references I need to add given the fact that it is a new technology? I have already linked to the actual specification and to the jsonwsp inspiration source JSONRPC, in the article I try only to stick to the facts. I will add some more references to the technologies jsonwsp builds on, but I don't have anyone to cite... Sorry :-)

List PROD

I created the List of people who have changed, adopted or adjusted their surnames, either personally or professionally or both, based on their mother’s maiden name. which you proposed for deletion for reasons that amount to WP:IDONTLIKEIT. Maybe you could offer some constructive advice on how to expand the list and make it more notable. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 01:27, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

February 2011

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of people who adopted matronymic surnames. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Editors violating the rule will usually be blocked for 24 hours for a first incident.
  3. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording, and content that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Orlady (talk) 01:28, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

  • For an administrator you appear to have a poor grasp of policy. An exemption to 3RR is: "Removal of libelous, biased, unsourced, or poorly sourced contentious material that violates the policy on biographies of living persons (BLP)." and the BLP policy states "Wikipedia's sourcing policy, Verifiability, says that all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation; material not complying with this may be removed. This policy extends that principle, adding that contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion. This applies whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable, and whether it is in a biography or in some other article."

Maybe the BLP noticeboard would be a better route to take? E. Fokker (talk) 01:38, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

There is nothing libelous or contentious about this list, and your repeated reverts have removed sourced content, reference citations, and content about dead people, along with links to BLP articles that include the same information that is reflected on this list. Once you started the AfD, it would be wise of you to let it run its course, rather than repeatedly blanking all but one sentence of the article. Regarding your proposal to take this to the BLP noticeboard at the same time that your AfD is ongoing, see WP:Forum shopping. --Orlady (talk) 02:27, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Well I think the changing of someones name is certainly contentious, but I guess BLP policy doesn't apply to articles up for deletion. E. Fokker (talk) 02:48, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
I predict that you will not find very many people who will find anything contentious about saying that certain actors and actresses use stage names, that certain authors have pseudonyms, and that some other famous people have changed their names. --Orlady (talk) 03:18, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes I have to say that overall my behaviour on this matter has been rather poor. I shall try to do better. E. Fokker (talk) 17:52, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Well Done

"My" "AutoBiography"

I appologize for my Misunderstanding. However, This is an account for my friend, Clay. This is spencer, and To suprise him, I was going to make him the Biography. You see, That page is not yet finished. But if the Topic, and Information is not Valid, Can you please inform me of a way to put that auto-Biography onto wiki for Anyone and everyone to see, Without it getting deleted? You know, some sort of Word you type in? "hang on" didn't work. =/ Hope to Hear from you soon.
