[edit] Hello, I'm Alith Anar. I noticed that you recently removed content from Youngstown, Ohio without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. - Thanks. Is there a way to remove the edits from the page's revision history if I don't want my profile on it Dpgtimesthree (talk) 18:57, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Suppression of edit histories are available via the Wikipedia:Oversight team, who respond to queries for suppression via email. However, suppression is usually done for extreme circumstances, such as personal information (real names, personal addresses, etc.) and grossly offensive/libelous content. Since your edits just appear to be an honest mistake, then the Oversight team is unlikely to suppress these edits. Alith Anar 19:09, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. For the record my edit made sense, I removed Little Chicago from nicknames of Youngstown because it's old fashion/uncommon. Dpgtimesthree (talk) 19:50, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- The nicknames section of a settlement article should record all verified nicknames of a settlement, even if a nickname is considered old fashioned. No one calls Cincinnati "Athens of the West" or "Little Paris" anymore. However, it is still listed on its article because there are references to verify it, and it may be useful to individuals trying to research the history of the city to know about nicknames that have fallen out of use. - Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, Alith Anar 18:54, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
