Speedy deletion nomination of Detective Kids

Proposed deletion of Detective Kids

The article Detective Kids has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a book by a non-notable author for which no notability is shown. Book is self-published through BookBaby. References are only to own site and Facebook.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sorry, but...

I've declined the speedy deletion for being 'made-up' as that doesn't apply to books that do exist. However, I've proposed deletion on the grounds of lack of notability. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and is not a directory. We require notability. In the case of a book, the guideline is WP:NBOOK and in all cases the notability has to be backed up by reliable independent sources WP:RS. I'm afraid that very few self-published books get the notability we require. In fact, not all books from regular publishers do either. However, they stand a better chance because of the publicity the companies generate for their products. I always advise self-published authors to keep on trying with the regular houses - if you can find a 'back door', then exploit it. The percentage on the sales is lower, but the sales are usually so much greater that it's worth it. And the work of publicising and marketing is done for you (until you get to the signing days...) I wish you luck in finding a regular house for your books (or in becoming one of the very rare exceptions and succeeding through self-publishing), but we can't help you here to achieve notability. We don't allow advertising or promotion, and can't allow an article in advance of the notability being achieved. Once again, keep on trying and keep writing. Sometimes the first efforts don't succeed, but later ones do. Also, remember how many times Harry Potter, The Beatles and 'Tubular Bells' were turned down by people who must have been kicking themselves for years afterwards... BTW you've got a week to show that your book is notable. You can decline the PROD, but it will then go to a discussion at Articles for Deletion. I'm afraid I can't see any hope of improving it. I can't see any suitable sources on Google, and your site, Amazon etc and Facebook etc aren't reliable independent sources. And it's 'trial' not 'trail' when connected to 'error'.
