Hello Diannaa,
I only recently started contributing, so I apologize for any mistakes. I am a little surprised by this, as I checked the LCI website to make sure there weren't any problems.
The website says:
"Users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of articles in the CLR, and to use them in any other lawful way." - https://libertarianchristians.com/clr/
I interpreted this as permission to use the content. However, I understand that Wikipedia has strict guidelines regarding copyrights. Is this type of general permission not considered sufficient? If so, could you please clarify why? I want to ensure that I understand Wikipedia's requirements, so I do not make other mistakes like this. CommanderCake10 (talk) 01:14, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello CommanderCake10. That's a good question. Since they've taken the trouble to write a statement, they could have made it say anything they like, such as releasing the material under a compatible Creative Commons license, or placing it in the public domain. But they don't do that. They do state "the full text of articles" which makes it sound like editing the text is not allowed. To do so is called a "derivative work", which is something our license does allow. Also, our license allows commercial use of the text. They don't specify that it's okay to do that. So I don't think it's okay to copy it here. — Diannaa (talk) 04:02, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
