Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Continuity test, and I noticed that your username, "Cirris Systems", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. SpinningSpark 17:36, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  SpinningSpark 17:40, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

This account was set up by an intern at Cirris Systems that is no longer with the company. One of his tasks was to improve wikipedia articles on electrical testing by referencing the informative articles regarding electrical testing on the Cirris website. I was unaware that he did not follow protocol. My intent is to just get the account name changed so it adheres to Wikipedia naming standards and then disable the account.

Decline reason:

If you wish only to achieve an unblock to change the username, re-apply using {{unblock-un}}. If you wish only to disable the account (note that deletion of an account is not physically possible) then you have no obvious need to do anything at all, as the account is disabled while blocked. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:20, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Your username is certainly not acceptable, but that was not my primary reason for blocking. The account has done nothing other than add links to your company. It is not really an improvement to our encyclopaedia to direct readers to another site for information. See the first bullet of "links normally to be avoided" in our external links guideline. As a COI editor, this is just the sort of thing you should be suggesting on the talk page for other editors to consider rather than directly inserting them yourself. I would also note that as the person who operated the account has now left your company, it cannot now be "taken over" by anyone else. Accounts must represent individuals, not organisations.
