The New Testament

[edit]

The New Testament is primarily based on a collection of ancient Greek manuscripts, the earliest of which date from the 2nd century CE. Among the most significant are Codex Sinaiticus, Codex Vaticanus, and Papyrus 52, which contains a fragment of the Gospel of John and is considered one of the oldest surviving pieces of the New Testament. These texts were written in Koine Greek and later copied and preserved by early Christian communities. Scholars rely on textual criticism to compare thousands of manuscript copies in order to reconstruct the most accurate original text. Major modern editions, such as the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece, are based on this critical scholarly work. Sources (for citation in a real Wikipedia page): Bruce M. Metzger and Bart D.
