Joe "Mr Piano" Henderson

[edit]

Hi, I created the original article about Joe Henderson. I recently emailed you via Wikipedia, but perhaps you didn’t receive it. I noticed your recent edits, but have undone them. References, or footnotes, as you describe them, are generally used in Wikipedia articles, rather than external links. See Wikipedia:External links: "External links normally should not be placed in the body of an article." That is why these were changed from external links to references/footnotes. The "external links" section at the end of the article does have a link to the Desert Island Discs page. You are welcome to add the Tin Pan Alley link there. And regarding Joe’s residence at Trellick Tower, you are also welcome to add other places he lived in if they can be referenced with a citation. I don’t think I had good sources for his other residences. I’ve tidied the article up quite a bit recently, which you might want to look at. Thank you for your efforts to improve the article, but do note that information added to Wikipedia needs to be referenced with reliable sources.—TrottieTrue (talk) 00:46, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for your message. I didn't know that external links should not normally be placed in the body of the article. Today, I have corrected the links to Tin Pan Alley, Fanfare and Desert Island discs to include the full link (rather than links that lead to error messages). Regards. Thanks for your reply and for correcting the references. I don't know why the Pathé links didn't work. The Desert Island Discs reference seems to have been fine, but I suppose there's no harm in adding the other link as a reference. Feel free to add more information if you have good sources for it. Unfortunately, there isn't a huge amount out there, it would appear. TrottieTrue (talk) 13:03, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
