Re: how to get big headers

[edit]

Hi Carpet9, thanks for your message. To get big headers, insert two equal signs on each side of the text you want enlarged. To make headers that are slightly smaller than this, insert three equal signs on each side of the text. Hope that helps, and welcome again :). Fabricationary 17:42, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • To get your own userpage, click on this link: User:Carpet9 and put whatever content you want on it, then save the page. To get boxes that say which languages you speak, you can visit Wikipedia:Babel. For the other userboxes, you can get step-by-step instructions on how to make your own here, or browse a bunch of them that are ready-made here. For the box on the top of my talk page, I just copied the coding for that from another page, haha :). Hope that helps. Fabricationary 17:54, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you currently have 35 edits. See Special:Contributions/Carpet9 or User:Interiot/Tool2. Cheers, —Ruud 00:41, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Which in no way changes.

That listing Joe Lieberman as a member of the Democratic Party is both POV and factually inaccurate. 66.211.32.50 02:35, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The pertinent question is "Why do you think Joe Lieberman will be a Democrat, when he was not elected as one, and will only caucus with the Democratic Party in the 110th Congress?" 02:50, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
His voter registration is irrelevant. He will not be a sitting member of the Democratic Party (United States) in the 110th Congress; he is an independent who will caucus with the Democratic Party. Claiming any other novel interpretation contrary to the facts violates both WP:NPOV and WP:NOR. 66.211.32.50 02:54, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"He is a sitting member of the Democrat party if he is a registered Democrat." I'm sorry, this is simply untrue. He was not the Democratic Party (United States) candidate in Connecticut, and will be an independent who caucuses with the Democratic Party come the 110th Congress. 66.211.32.50 02:58, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Joe Lieberman has said no such thing. He has acknowledged that he was elected by a largely Republican/conservative constituency, and has pledged to sit as an independent who caucuses with the Democratic Party. 66.211.32.50 03:02, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your warning

[edit]

You left this message on my talk page in re (I believe) this article: United States Senate elections, 2008. If you take a look at the article's edit history, however, you'll note that I was actually reverting a POV edit by an anon user, not violating NPOV myself. May I ask that you be a little more careful in regard to warning users for vandalism or POV violations in the future? Cheers. · j e r s y k o talk · 04:11, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Don't let it keep you from warning anons, of course :) · j e r s y k o talk · 04:25, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hastert & Stevens

[edit]

Sorry Carpet9. I thought the 109th US Congress, expired at Noon EST January 3rd, 2007 ;thus causing the House Speakership & Senate presidency pro temp, to become vacant. I thought, Hastert & Stevens roles had expired. Thanks for correcting it. PS- ya might want to correct United States Presidential Line of Succession. GoodDay 00:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Presidential succession

[edit]

Hi. I saw that you wrote in an edit summary that if the U.S. Presidency and Vice Presidency both became vacant before Rep. Pelosi is formally elected Speaker, then Rep. Hastert would become President, even though the term of the Congress in which he was elected Speaker has expired. I'm curious as to what is the basis for this assertion. My understanding had certainly been that when the 109th Congress ended at noon today, so too did Hastert's term as Speaker and place in the line of succession. (Especially bearing in mind that the Speaker in one Congress isn't even necessarily a Member of the next.) I'd appreciate your thoughts or sources. Regards, Newyorkbrad 00:39, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Though in 17hrs, this debate will become mute. My guess, (should Bush & Cheney die/resign during Jan 3-4, 2007: before new Speaker & Pres pro temp, are elected) is Dr.Rice would become the President & served out the term ('til January 20th, 2009) -note- Carl Albert's views would dispute my views. GoodDay 00:52, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are right, and I think the House Rules and Manual agree with me. BTW, is there a specific quotation or analysis by Albert you have in mind? (See also further dialog on my talkpage.) Regards, Newyorkbrad 00:54, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peter DeFazio

[edit]

You edited the Peter DeFazio page to say that he announced he would not run against Gordon Smith for his senate seat in 2008. Do you have a source I could look at for this? More because I want to read it for my own sake, rather than to add to the page. But it would be good to add to the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Criptofcorbin (talkcontribs)

Seems, you're right

User space

[edit]

That is incorrect, WP:NOT still applies. We aren't a free webhost, for example. – Chacor 01:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I never said he was a banned user. I just used a comparison to banned users, for a lack of similar situations. – Chacor 01:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
