Speedy deletion of European Regional Economic Forum
[edit]
A tag has been placed on European Regional Economic Forum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Warnings
[edit]March 2009
[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from European Regional Economic Forum, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Dpmuk (talk) 11:54, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
How to release text to Wikipedia
[edit]Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. With respect to your note at European Regional Economic Forum, I'm afraid that placing that notice on Wikipedia is not sufficient. Release must be placed either at the source of publication or mailed to the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm also concerned by your note that "changing it is not allowed." As Gonzonoir indicates, this is not compliant with Wikipedia's licensing requirement. Content placed on Wikipedia is licensed under the GFDL. Modification of content is expressly allowed by that license; contributors are not permitted to place content here if they withhold modification. If you are willing to release the text for modification and reuse, commercial and otherwise, I'll be happy to help you work through the verification procedure. If you are not willing to release the text for modification, we will need to delete it. In addition to placing this note here, I have also placed it at the article's talk page. (The article has been blanked for now until the copyright concerns are addressed.) Please let me know either here or there how you would like to proceed. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:52, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, Bostjan.sinkovec.
- Since you're willing to release the text for modification, there are two relatively easy ways to go about it. Because Wikipedia is likely to change our license from GFDL to CC-BY-SA (A similar but incompatible license that also allows modification and reuse, while requiring attribution), we recommend that you colicense it under GFDL and CC-BY-SA. Otherwise, if we make the transition as expected in August, we'll need to seek permission all over again.
- The quickest way to release material is to put a note on the external website that hosts that pdf saying, "The text of the pdf http://www.ukf.hr/UserDocsImages/EREF%20Bulletin%20-%20Issue%201%2026%2001%202009.pdf is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike." If you choose to do that, make a note at the article's talk page with a link to that release, and we can restore the text for further development.
- If you don't want to place that notice there or don't want to release the entire pdf, we can work around this. You have the option also of e-mailing the Wikimedia Foundation with a release. The e-mail needs to come from an address associated with the publication, such as the EREF. It should be sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and should permit reuse under the GFDL and CC-BY-SA. There is a boilerplate release form at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries which can be helpful. Since you are not releasing images, you would change the sentence that reads "I agree to publish that work under the free license LICENSE [images: choose at least one from http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Copyright_tags text: GFDL, v. 1.2 or later and CC-BY-SA version 3.0]." to "I agree to publish that work under the free license GFDL, v. 1.2 or later and CC-BY-SA version 3.0." If you want to release only as much of the text as you, yourself, have placed on Wikipedia, that may also be possible, but you should address that in your e-mail for further instructions. Please provide a clear link to the pdf in your e-mail and specify by name the article on Wikipedia in which the material is being used. Once your e-mail is received and processed by a member of the Communications Committee, usually within 24 hours, the article's contents will be restored if your release is legally sufficient. The member of the Communications Committee who receives your letter will contact you if further information is necessary. Please let us know at the talk page of the article once you've sent your e-mail, which will help guard against premature deletion of the page. You can compose a note or very simply paste the following on the talk page, brackets and all: {{OTRS pending}}
- Once the material is released, additional changes may be necessary if the content does not conform to our policies and guidelines. If you are not familiar with these policies and guidelines, you may wish to review Wikipedia:Starting an article or Wikipedia:Your first article. If you are closely related to the subject matter, you may also want to read our conflict of interest guidelines to get an idea how best to proceed.
- I am still watching both your talk page and the article and will be happy to answer any questions you have about this note. I know it looks like a complex process the first time you encounter it. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:18, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Excellent, thank you so much for helping me out. I guess the better option will be to email the Wikimedia Foundation at permissions-en@wikimedia.org from my SBRA email address (which as stated earlier, acts as the Secretariat of EREF) and explain them the situation.
- Probably so. They usually respond swiftly to inquiries and should help you with any difficulties you encounter. If you have any problems, please feel free to let me know. I'll be happy to help from this end as much as I am able. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:35, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
I sent them the PDF version of the EREF Bulletin, referred them to our discussion page, etc. Hopefully I'll get a positive answer by tomorrow sometime. Thanks so much and if it doesn't work out, until then!
Since the 5th of March, no response from permissions-en@wikimedia.org
- Hi. This matter has come up for closure. Please resend the letter to permissions, in case it has gone astray. If additional information is needed, they should let you know. If you'd like to give me the subject line of the e-mail you sent, I'd be happy to ask a member of the Communications Committee to check on your last one. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:55, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- And whether you resent or it was simply coincidence, I see the OTRS letter came through. Thank you. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:50, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
No thank you, as soon as I have some spare time, I will work on the article.

Speedy deletion nomination of European Regional Economic Forum
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on European Regional Economic Forum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
