Welcome to Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels
Hi thank you for joining the WikiProject. There is still plenty of scope for influencing things and making your contribution count. We are about establishing standards for Novel based articles and writing articles that meet our own and others high standards, and to improve Wikipedia's diet of articles on Fiction books, otherwise called Novels. If you have any questions, do ask. Please be very welcome. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 11:00, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi.
I notice you're the first person (other than Daibhid, who I know) to use the userboxes I designed. It's nice to see that there are people who like them. Although I spent four years in Scotland, I have never been to Ireland, although I'd like to some day, partly because I'm very much a fan of Irish music (I have edited the sean nós article, although I don't really know what I'm talking about in that case; I got my information from a book). I don't know whether you stopped by and read my user page when you got the userboxes, but feel free - it lists more of my interests and other pages I have edited. Cheers. - I couldn't reply yesterday because my Internet connection was in the process of being upgraded. I'm not reading any of Pratchett's books at present, but I am a regular participant on the newsgroup alt.fan.pratchett (albeit with a different username). The book I'm currently reading is Guardian of the Vision by Irene Radford, which is book three in the Merlin's Descendents series. My good friend Stacie (who is an American lecturer in English literature) has an essay on Austen that you might enjoy. Zerrakhi 04:02, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

User Page Award nomination
Just thought it would be polite to drop you a line to say I've taken the liberty of nominating your page in the User Page Award thingy. I found it when I was editing fossil fuel power plant the other day and thought it was the most visually striking user page I've seen to date. Cheers,

PS I've taken the further liberty of changing your "please click here" link to point here instead of Alnaschar. Hope you don't mind.

Hi Bláthnaid, I see that you created the fantastic article for John McGahern's fantastic Amongst Women. I've just created articles for The Dark and Memoir. At-risk image list
Glad it's been helpful. Could you leave a note on the talk page of the list, to say which bits you've looked at, so we know what's done?
Note also there are other at-risk images in subcats of Category:Images with no fair use rationale. This seems to be what the deleting people have been going for first. Sadly, it seems we're too late to save anything tagged before 27 June, but there's still a lot there. User:Jogers has just produced a consolidated at-risk list for album covers there, I don't know whether he has automated tools, but he might be able to produce a similar list for book covers. Hi, your comments at this AfD were very useful. Bearian 15:06, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
I liked what you did with the World War III in popular culture article and was wondering if I could get your input on another one. This needs a clean-up - the information is there but the whole entry is an example of how editing by everyone can go wrong. I'll take a run at it later but I was wondering if you had any input - I've started a section on the talk page for ideas. (Emperor 12:31, 21 August 2007 (UTC))
- Great. I threw in a book I found and am having a dig through some journals and found a few bits and bobs (mainly book reviews but that is OK for now) will add in what I find. Tomorrow or Friday I'll have a preliminary hack at the entry and try and get it to shape up in a more prose way and eliminate the listiness (which is a killer as it looks bad, reads poorly and leaves the door wide open for passersby to hammer in poorly sourced trivia). (Emperor 20:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC))
Hello! I am greatly pleased to see that those sources were of use. It is great when we editors are able to work together to improve these articles! Hi there; the new article looks perfectly fine to me. You can never quite tell with recreations whether someone might put it up for AfD again, but certainly I shall not. I will restore original, so as you can convert to new version. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:31, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationales on promotional images
Hi Blathnaid, thanks for adding all those fair use rationales. Just a note; if you've added a fair-use rationale to an image tagged {{non-free promotional}}, could you add the parameter "image_has_rationale=yes" which will remove the image from Category:Publicity photographs with missing fair-use rationale? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 23:54, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. It's not obvious partially for a reason. I just found it a little while ago and am adding it on a number of images right now. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 00:01, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Golden Gate Highlands National Park - park area
Do you know what is the actual area of the park? The introduction and the infobox both say that it covers an area of 41 km² (16 mi²). However in the section "Location" it is stated that "In 1963, 47.92 square kilometres (11,840 acres) were proclaimed as a national park, specifically to preserve the scenic beauty of the area. In 1981 the park was enlarged to 62.41 km² (15,420 acres) and in 1988 it was enlarged to 116.33 km² (28,746 acres).[5] In 2004 it was announced that the park would be joined with the neighbouring QwaQwa National Park.[6]", which implies a much larger area. Qblik talk 16:01, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have no idea which figure is correct. I have noticed the discrepancy, when I was preparing to translate this (good) article to Polish. The article (as quoted above) suggests that the area was adjusted (increased) over time, so I would lean towards the larger number as more recent. The area might have been affected also by the recent merger with Qwaqwa National Park that is mentioned in the article (I found 22 000ha as the area of that park: "Touring in South Africa: The Great SA Road Trip Guide By Willie Olivier, Sandra Olivier, p. 112). I have no idea if 116.33 km² includes that or not. Personally, I would use the larger number. Qblik talk 19:56, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
