The section titled “The Language of Legal Texts,” For the Forensic Linguistics Wikipedia page has a long quote by author Daniel Leisser, who in turn quotes another authors reference to King Midas’ gold touch. I believe it to be confusing and the quote comes from the introduction of the article referenced, quoting almost an entire paragraph. The article itself references more terms, such as ‘vagueness’ and ‘ambiguity,’ with the purpose of informing the reader of the way language is seen by the legal sphere and how opinion may render the ‘truth’ when a verdict is reached in a courtroom setting. It acknowledges the different parts of speech, demonstrating how each aspect may differ within a legal context. The information can be better understood as providing an understanding as to how how social norms, or the interpretation of ones own environment may be interpreted by an individual, that the language used by one person may have a different or slightly different meaning to the receiver of the information.
