[edit] Hello, I'm QuicoleJR. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. QuicoleJR (talk) 16:47, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- That is fair enough, however when looking through the history of the article, I found out that the edition I was trying to make had been made previously and was removed for sourcing from websites related to it for the reason of promotional material or something in that vain, so therefore, I was unsure whether to add it or not and I'm am confused to why reference to a game based on the area has been removed before as it seems relevant enough to mention as if i had an indie game based on my small town i wouldn't mind its inclusion. - If a source was previously removed, that is likely because the source is not reliable. This page provides more information about that. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. QuicoleJR (talk) 17:12, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- I found a website which i can source which proves its relation which i will use when editing it again. However, my main concern is the edition might have been removed this time and before due to the games content being controversial and not in an awful way just that it contains charters who are stated as being homosexual. BassProCube (talk) 17:25, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- That is not a reason for content to be removed from Wikipedia, we have a policy against homophobia. Can I please see the source? QuicoleJR (talk) 17:29, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- I plan on using https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VisualNovel/Echo2015#:~:text=The%20story%20follows%20Chase%2C%20a,town%20of%20Echo%2C%20Utah).
- but the one previously removed was
- https://echoproject.fandom.com/wiki/Echo_(Town)
- Yet again there is enough proof to point towards it being the geographical setting but i'm sorry if there is limited websites to show this. BassProCube (talk) 17:41, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oh. Sorry, but TV Tropes is not a reliable source because it is a wiki like Wikipedia is. That is the same reason that the Fandom source was not accepted, since it is also a wiki. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Thanks, QuicoleJR (talk) 17:49, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- For reference, a reliable source would be something like a news article from a reputable newspaper, or a published book. QuicoleJR (talk) 17:51, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- would a source linking to the actual game suffice as a source as though i respect why sources are important i'm not trying to prove an outlandish claim and the game does make several references which prove its connections to the real life town. However the link is behind an age verification barrier as it is a horror game for a reason. BassProCube (talk) 17:54, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- That would show that the game exists, but unfortunately that's not enough. We need secondary sources to show that the game is important enough to mention, and the game itself can't do that. I would recommend checking sources like IGN or Polygon. This page might also be helpful for finding sources. QuicoleJR (talk) 18:07, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- That is fair hopefully some reliable sources for it come down the line as IGN and Polygon are unlikely to review it. Thank you for your help however its much appreciated and i have have some final questions that begin would a reference to an interview done with the creator confirming its relation to the real town echo suffice and if not if the game had its own Wikipedia page going over the details of the game including its geographical references to the town in Utah suffice as one? BassProCube (talk) 18:23, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- An interview by itself would not be enough for inclusion. If the game had its own article, it could probably be included in the town's article. However, for the game to get an article, it needs sources to show that it meets our notability rules. For more information about writing articles, see this page. - Thank you for everything sorry to have bothered you I've never had something like this happen before as i have made edits before, however those where mostly edits and editions to articles on geography and sometimes some Roman politics articles on an older account. BassProCube (talk) 18:58, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- It's fine. I've made plenty of edits that didn't work out for one reason or another. I hope you stick around and keep editing. QuicoleJR (talk) 19:02, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
