Euler's Formula

[edit]

Hello. About Euler's Formula, in history section. You have added information about Bernoulli & Euler correspondence. By the way, Bernoulli family has many notable people. I am confused which one it is. Moreover, Leonhard Euler was born in 1707 so their meeting in 1702 is impossible. Please add some references and correct the year they met, or I will remove your paragraph if you could not prove it. --Octra Bond (talk) 03:43, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That Bernoulli "noted" doesn't mean he sent a letter to Euler. It means he "observed" or "found out". The quoted formula was published in his paper: Johann Bernoulli, Solution d'un problème concernant le calcul intégral, avec quelques abréges par raport à ce clcul, Mémoires de l'Académie Royale des Sciences de Paris, 197-289 (1702). By "correspondence" with Euler clearly means correspondence made later in life since (as you noted) Euler was born in 1707. --99c (talk) 16:28, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reference. We really need it. --Octra Bond (talk) 14:05, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
