Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, 216.115.251.68. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 00:33, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, MrOllie.
- There has been a ref to the website WA's Encyclopedia of Alternate Guitar Tunings for at least 15 years -- in the External Links Section of this Wikipedia page. I'm not sure who created the ref. I created the website itself in 1997, and retired it in 2017, which broke the link in the ref. Eventually, someone put up a static copy of the website elsewhere, and changed the link in the ref to point to their page. Just recently, I have put the website back online, with some updates and revisions. My intention is simply to replace the incorrect link in the Wikipedia ref to with a link to the actual, newly-restored, website.

[edit] Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1] MrOllie (talk) 00:58, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Black swan edit
[edit]The "original manner" means what was described in the previous sentence: when people thought black swans weren't real and didn't exist. Joyous! Noise! 22:19, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
