Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contribution(s). However, as a general rule, while user talk pages permit a small degree of generalisation, other talk pages such as Talk:The Marvels are strictly for discussing improvements to their associated main pages, and many of them have special instructions on the top. They are not a general discussion forum about the article's topic or any other topic. If you have questions or ideas and are not sure where to post them, consider asking at the Teahouse. Thanks. Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at John Carter (film), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and to see how to add references to an article. Thank you. Daniel Case (talk) 18:46, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just to respond to what you said here (drawing the level 1 warning above):

  • I only semi-protected the page last October. That means that while unregistered editors such as yourself and registered accounts less than 4 days old and with fewer than 10 edits cannot edit it, everyone else (i.e., the great majority of registered Wikipedia editors) can.
  • The article's history shows that a great deal of people have edited it since that time. If you are aware of evidence those people are "Disney officials", please feel free to share your evidence. Especially since you have suggested that all of them are (For the record, as if it weren't pretty clear from my user page, I have nothing and have never had anything to do with Disney; I don't even live on the same coast)
  • If, as it seems to me, you are making that allegation without any evidence, you are showing a lack of good faith, not something that goes over well around here.
  • You may of course raise questions about the article content on the talk page, as it isn't presently protected in any way, as long as you do it in good faith.

I could only wish I worked for Disney, but that is furthest from the truth for many (likely all) of the main contributors to that article. We are all just volunteers, and I would like to note that no one is being cagey with the box-office bomb wording or how much revenue the film lost at the box office, which is adequately noted in the dedicated Box office section. The lead notes how much it made versus how much it cost, and the total loss figure does not need to be noted directly in the lead because that is WP:UNDUEWEIGHT. Also, there is still no sufficiently reliable source to verify these exceptional claims that it is the "biggest box-office bomb ever", which has been reverted in the past for those reasons. In addition...
Look no further than Talk:The Marvels#Do we need so much pushback back against Iger's comment?, which was a discussion by active editors of the page to include a negative aspect of Disney's behavior and treatment toward the director. It was ultimately debated and included once the necessary sourcing was located. If this site/page was being run or protected by Disney as you claimed, you can bet this negative aspect would not have been inserted in the "Box office" section. --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:58, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
