Reality shifting is a theoretical process meant to "shift" someone's consciousness into or from a "desired reality".[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]

History

The phenomenon reportedly began in the late 2010s and rose in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it became a trend on the social media platform TikTok.[13]

In June 2021, the YouTube animator TheOdd1sOut released a video claiming that that reality shifting is merely lucid dreaming, and that it is a damaging belief system.[14][unreliable source?]
