User:Wikid77/Template:Navpages
The navpage summary Template:Navpages lists the specified navpages in a table-box, with similar size and shape as a bottom navbox. The listed navpages are not expanded as full bottom navboxes, but rather with just 1 wikilink being listed to connect to each navpage. The top portal-box is optional.
- Usage: {{navpages
- | page1 = My navbox name
- | portal = some portal's name
- | portalicon = some portal's image file
- }}
- Usage: {{navpages
Parameters
[edit]The parameters are as follows:
- relatedtitle =
"'''Related navpages:'''"
- text1=xxx:
- page1=navpage-1 ( ...and so on with text2 & page2... )
- text9=xxx:
- page9=navpage-9
- portal=name of an existing wiki-portal page
- portalicon=image file of an existing wiki-portal
- relatedtitle =
Up to 9 sets of navpages (each having an optional prefix-text) can be specified for listing in the box. Just 1 wikilink will be listed to connect to each navpage. Hence, if a navbox contained 250 wikilinks, those links would not be directly listed by the template (just 1 wikilink to the whole navpage), and those omitted 250 wikilinks would not cause the article to be cross-linked with those 250 other articles (for "What links here"). As a result, by using {{Navpages}} to link the navpages (rather than including each as a bottom navbox), the total wikilinks will be reduced by 250x250 = 62,500 wikilinks omitted for those 250 pages. If one navpage (or navbox) were modified, it would not trigger the reformatting of the other 250 articles, unless it were included as a bottom navbox on each page. Each navpage listed only by {{Navpages}} is immune to the auto-reformatting, of all related articles, typically triggered by changing a bottom navbox.
The "relatedtitle=" can be set, as a customized box title, to allow multiple {{Navpages}} boxes to be stacked at the bottom of a page, listing up to 9 navpages each.
