Ira Ward (born 17 January 1962) is an American songwriter, musician and producer.
Biography
[edit]A native of Kansas City, Missouri performed with his brother Freddie in local bands "Friends Of Darkness" and "Pure Ivory". In the summer of 1979 Ira moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1980 he started working with major artists such as The Gap Band and Robert "Goodie" Whitfield Call Me Goodie.[1] He also worked with singer Barrington "Bo" Henderson[2] of the group Lakeside and later went on to become a member of The Temptations.
In 1987 he moved to Stockholm, Sweden. With music roots in Blues, Jazz and Gospel he found it challenging to enter the Swedish pop music industry. In 1989 he began working as a music producer in a recording studio in Stockholm named "City Recording". There he met Dr Alban and friends. Alban was in need of keyboard player and ask Ira to join his band for the "Hello Africa" European tour 1994. Later he began writing and producing songs with the doctor. Alban started his own label "dr. records" where Ira worked for several years writing and producing artists such as Dr. Alban and Drömhus.[3]
