My name is Chepng'eno Carolyne. I am a PhD student in Religious Studies. My research interest centers on the intersections of religion, social change, gender, and culture. Her research critically engages with how religious discourses and institutions influence cultural perceptions and the lived experiences of women in contemporary African societies. She adopts interdisciplinary methodologies that draw from feminist theology, cultural hermeneutics, and sociology of religion to interrogate power dynamics within religious spaces, particularly those that marginalize or silence women’s voices.
Carolyne’s scholarship contributes to the growing body of work that seeks to decolonize theological education and reframe African religious thought in ways that are inclusive, transformative, and socially responsive. Her research not only analyzes historical and doctrinal patterns but also foregrounds the agency of African women as interpreters of faith and agents of change.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Carolyne is an active contributor to Wikipedia, with a specific focus on improving the representation of women in religion. She works to enhance the visibility of African women theologians, religious leaders, and scholars by editing and creating content that is both rigorously sourced and accessible to a global audience. Her editorial contributions reflect a commitment to knowledge equity and the democratization of scholarly information.
Carolyne’s work is situated at the nexus of scholarship
