The IPW Aotearoa Tag Team Championships are the professional wrestling tag team championship titles in the New Zealand promotion Impact Pro Wrestling. It is a standard tag team championship contested in professional wrestling matches typically by teams of two wrestlers. However, in the title's history there have been four reigns held under the Freebird Rule with as many as five wrestlers simultaneously recognised as champion. The current champions are S.A.S. (Alex Savage & Will Stone) who are in their second reign.
Introduced in 2010, the inaugural champions were 'Pirates and Ninjas Are Totally Awesome' (Pirate Burns & Ninja Fury), who won the titles on 17 April in the Eliminator Match[1]. Three teams are tied for most championship reigns, as no team has exceeded three reigns; TnT (Brother T & Lil T), Friends in Similar Tights (Brodie Coast & Mason Daniels) each have three title reigns. The faction Church & State are also recognised as three time holders, however, their first reign differs from their subsequent two, as all members of the faction were recognised as champion during each reign. As such, the members of the team in the first reign differ from the subsequent two reigns. Despite the different configuration of team members, 'Church & State' as a group are still collectively recognised as three time champions. At 406 days, Nu Blood (Zac Hayle & Kid Nova) hold the record for longest title reign. The second reign of TnT (Brother T & Lil T) lasted less than one day, the shortest in the history of the titles. Overall, there have been 40 reigns shared between 28 teams and 47 wrestlers, with five vacancies.
